    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I see conflicting statements on what port to use for Modem mode with Virgins HUB 5 as a modem. Some say only port 1 is active and must be used in modem mode to connect router, and some have said they used the 2.5GHz port 4. I have heard speed is limited to 960gb via 1gb ports, and would have...

So it seems my 5GHz connection is there now as all day the connection has not dissappeared, I just get disconnected from the internet often, as it says connected with no internet access? Network diagnostic too in HUB 5 shows only an Ethernet Connections error which is the downstairs Xbox abd...

With Hub 5. My youngest daughter runs an old 2.4GHZ PCI adapter card. Connected but a drop in speed, need to retest. Daughters TV conneted via 2.4Ghz wireless. Connected no speed test run but she has not complained. Daughters X-box not yet connected. My eldest lad runs an inbuilt WiFi 2.4GHz set...

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Well Virgin Media's Hub 5 is appaling in my limited experience of the hub, a few old devices such as the D-Link DWA-140 usb dongles refuse to connect, the 2.5GHz wireless equipment is all around 100mb or less, and 5G will give 600mb, sometimes with no upload speed, but will always disconnect and...

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Hi all, I recently changed from M350 full house etc to just Gig1 with a phone line. Old Hub 3 and Tivo being sent back, Hub 5 installed, not tested via wire but uploads all seem around 50mb give or take on the upstairs wifi PC's, though my PC with an AC68 PCI card is only getting 600mb on 5GHz...

    Pecuiliar Crashing Problem

Google Event 41 Kernel. More common than you think and often nothing at all to do with suggested hardware. Though it can be. I turned off a couple of settings in Windows and resolved it without as yet finding the cause. Edit, sleep and hibernate are the settings i turned off, a few articles...

HELP - PC restarting without error - straight to black screen

Your 550w power supply will be struggling with a 2080ti, two drives, 4 sticks of memory and an i7. Most reviews were recommending 750w to 1000w. Are you therefor running a single PCI-E connection from PSU?

HELP - PC restarting without error - straight to black screen

I suffered a couple of black screens and similar issues before my old EVGA 1070 GPU died. Couple that with it happening to you during games well if u can try another GPU it would possibly help determine. Nothing wrong with running Memtest either just to rule it out. Am I reading that you added...

Help me decide between these 2 Noctua coolers please.

With a flat top down cooler I feel there is more area to feed that fan possibly. I have a system with the NHU9s, I also have a system with the low profile cooler, 92mm fan i think also. Both benefit from a front fan feeding them air. I would have only one 120mm top to feed the tower cooler...

PC crashing and I am not sure what is wrong

One step at a time and document each change, revert any change back if no difference is noted. I would suggest a double check of cables and that any drives were plugged back in the same port. Then google event 41 kernel. This may be completely nothing to do with what your experiencing, but...

Drive issue, or is it new GPU? Flummoxed

Except in recent years event 41 kernel issues have been occurring for many pc users and it has had nothing to do with bios or hardware. Simply Googling it shows many "experts" advising solutions that did nothing but cost the sufferer hundreds of pounds. No explanation yet about why turning off...

Drive issue, or is it new GPU? Flummoxed

Well it sounds similar to event kernel 41 issue. Hence asking about event viewer. A similar issue on my lads PC was resolved by turning off fast boot and hibernation. Of course this may be completely unrelated but Is free to try.

Seperate drive trends for OS, Games, vs partitioning ?

Never liked that idea lol. I have 2 4tb external drives and occasionally back up the main drive, to be honest main drive is a lot of music, movies, and family photos from days of DSLR use and the only value in there are the family photo's. Some phone back ups. But with mobile phones and...

Expensive AIOs worth the money? Water vs Air cooling?

Personally and from what the Youtube content creators state, AIO's do not last as long as a decent air cooler. That said, my lads CM Nepton 240m does a great job, is very quiet apart from a slight gurgle when powered on, and his temps are kept low. Small pumps and therefor moving parts with...

Recommend a dock & enclosure for using internal hard drives externally

There are plenty of external docks that have slots on top which you simply slot your 2.5 to 3.5 sata 1/2/3 drives into. £20 right up to £480 depending on requirements. Akasa, Icy Dock, Sabrient, Wavlink to name a few. Sometimes tempted myself to try one. Sabrient at £40 looks interesting...

Budget £150 for a mid tower case and AIO

Using two NZXT cases in my house, the old S340 with a CoolerMaster 240 aio cools an i7 very well, quiet too. My lad refuses to change it. Second is a 500 series air cooled with Vipers and again fine. Plenty of reviews showing the NZXT as good as if not better than some of those cheap front mesh...

    Upgrading some or all?

Why are people advising slim optical external drives when you have a superb Fractal Define R6 case with a full size optic bay allowing you to buy a superior internal optic drive. The mind boggles. Also not seeing a lot of detail on actual use, so far its Netflix and Youtube and some movies with...
