*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Well if anyone is hankering after a 3090FE that has a 3080, I would like to swap...Long story short: I grabbed the first available card as I need a replacement GPU but don't need a 3090. It will arrive tomorrow. Ideally you are in a similar situation and missed out on the 3090 but bagged the...

People who got GPUs, how did you do it?

I had to set up an auto shopping bot on my pc and have it check a number of websites every few seconds and relay this to a discord server in case I am out and about. Just bagged a 3090 FE but was hoping to get a 3080/ti. If anyone who got a 3080 but wanted a 3090 and who wants to swap + pay...

Should I buy or hold out

Yeah.....I last posted in 2010 and have a grand total of 25 posts to my name. Well that's actually not a bad idea to attempt to get cards in to the hands of people that actually want to use them and not put them straight on ebay.

Closed back gamer, needs convincing on open back

I have been on a pair of Grado SR325i and SR60's since 2007 and used to get regularly accused of cheating as the combination of these and the X-Fi CMSS card at the time was giving me scarily accurate sound positioning.

    Altec lansing THX ada 995

Likely the amp section needs a service. I'd wager the caps... I had a pair of these around 2002 and they were pretty damn good. I have since upgraded several times and am on my second pair of Audioengine A2+ which are stupendously good for their size and price.

Herman Miller Aeron vs Steelcase Leap V2

The HM hands down for me for anyone still on the fence. It's shrunk over the past 18 months...... :) but still supremely comfortable!

Should I buy or hold out

I appear to have been somewhat out the loop regarding GPU's since mid 2019 when I got myself a second hand Vega 64 for £190 that is now misbehaving. 1600 quid for a 3080?!?!?! or a replacement Vega for £600!!!!! Unbelievable. What's with this outfit trying to sell 3070's for 5 grand?

    5.1 headset Vs stereo headphones

A decent set of audiophile cans is also far and away the best option when it comes to surround sound. There is absolutely no set of 5.1 cans that can best my Grado/Beresford/CMSS combo. None, Nada, Zilch! I have heard most 5.1 solutions and they pretty much all suck.

    5.1 headset Vs stereo headphones

All in the ears. The algorithms used in CMSS and DH are all based around an average ear (whatever that is) The software mimics the effect of the shape of the ear to get as close as possible to giving you positional sound. If your ears are too far outside of the norm (Too large or too small)...

    Beresford DACs

Both good I own both, the 7510 is a 6/4 version and the 7520 has a LM4562 + THS4032 upgrade on the opamps which make it sound amazing. I use it with some SR325i's and the detail they deliver is fantastic!

    Gaming headphones - £30-50

For those of us fortunate to still be able to hear upto nearly 20khz I can categorically state that break in takes longer than an hour. My Missions went through a period of sounding great out of the box before getting worse for a short period and then much better, all over the course of a few...

    Razer Megalodon

LOL There isn't a hope in hells chance these will outdo a decent set of Hi Fi cans....none, nada, zilch!! I converted to Grado's for my gaming some time ago and even the lower end models costing less than 'gaming' headsets batter them senseless. I am now onto some SR325i's and would never...

Logitech Z-5500 are they worth it ?

The DAC in the X-FI is better than the DAC in the Z-5500, not by a large margin but it is better. Use the Analogue outputs for everything including DTS and put the optical cable in a drawer, it wont make a blind bit of difference to the sound in the slightest. As for lossless file over...

    speaker advice

I'd keep the X-FI as for what you want it is perfectly adequate, if you only have a few hundred to spend on speakers and are not an audiophile then a set of Z-5500's or equivalent are likely to do you very well. Or you could go for a cheap set of speakers for the front and spend the rest on a...

Logitech Z-5500 are they worth it ?

Oh and guys, you can use the cheapest interconnects with these and never know the difference, dont bother spending more than a few quid on either optical or coax as it wont make any difference, when you start to get into the world of quality seperates then you can spend the money and notice the...

Logitech Z-5500 are they worth it ?

They are definately designed with brute force and ignorance in mind, they go insanely loud and suit movies and gaming well and dont sound too bad with music if your tastes are closer to the Prodigy than Bach. I am selling a set though if anyone is interested?

    Headphone amplifier + X-Fi

The Graham Slee amps are quite expensive, good but expensive! Your best bet if you have the cash would be to use the X-FI for its processing abilities and use the digital output. The standard card uses a fairly ropey array of caps and opamps which make the X-FI cards sound average at best...
