I have the same card in an antec 902 with all Apaches blacks other than the top 200mm fan, and if the apaches are at 50% then i can here them easily over the 7970. At idle my card sits at 10% fan, 29-31c and to be honest i can hear it at all. it doesnt really become noticable above the case...

I love my i7 920, one of the best bang-for-buck buys I think ive made since i bought a AMD Axia or my Radeon 8500 :) My 920 runs at stock speeds for most of the time, I only crank it up to 4.2 if i'm gaming. Yet a lot of the time i forget and i hardly notice the difference tbh... so i cant see...

I'd go down the Open Uni path whilst keeping your job. As i had a brain fart 5 years ago and dumped my well paid cushy IT job for Uni. I'm now a unemployed BSc :) 5 years out of IT is pretty much a death sentence to your bank account, especially in the current climate. Stick with your job...
