Pad thai?

yep, fish sauce is very bitter.
Fish sauce smells soooo lurvely out of the bottle, doesnt it? :p

I've never eaten or cooked Pad Thai. Strange considering i love Thai food! I've always thought of it as a bit like 'special fried rice' -- as in it's not really that special and just a generic dish. But i guess that's being fairly harsh and the trick is to do it well!

Had a great pad thai last week and it definately wasn't pink. Very thin rice noodles, beansprouts, chicken, spring onions - mmmmmmmmmmm. Many thai recipes have tamarind paste in them. It's bitter and needs balancing with something sweet.

I can recomend the Orchid Lounge upstairs the Jaipur in Milton Keynes. Fantastic service and really good food.

My friend has a kickass Pad Thai recipe..But his ex wife has stolen his group of websites and nuked his old blog so I can't get it for you.

How bizarre. I saw the pic and thought "no problem" although I didn't have any seafood or chicken, only the missus' Quorn.

Was going to scramble an egg into the mix but thought it might not go.... Looking at the recipe I can see it actually is in the ingredients.

Yep that's a great recipe. needs a bit more chilli and lime juice.

Apart from that it was great. Oh and I over cooked the prawns. But I've never cooked with them before.
