Phobias

Please go away, I don't care what the word is. I have explained how I feel and am after advice, and the last thing i want to do is pay lots of money. Take your pointless knowledge elsewhere.

Read all posts before you mouth off.
The one where I accepted your condition was just below it.

psychiatrists talk a load of ****, only trust psychologists. A phobia is an irrational fear of something, you can still talk about it.

hmm, could it not just be classed as fear? as he does not have what imo is an irrational response.

When I had treatment back in 1988 I was told that a Psychologist did the talking but a Psychiatrist could also prescribe medication so how you can put Physciatrists down is beyond me.

I believe he does have a phobia because of how he went on to explain it.
He's obviously taken amazing steps to get over some of it himself.
However, he really needs professional advice and treatment (without drugs).
I know how life changing this can be so go and get help.

Ill have you know Dmpoole works for the NHS !

NO PERSONAL ATTACKS

My experience with psyches comes from my own stint in a Mental Asylum back in 88 and my daughters severe phobia 6 years ago.
Some people.

No sympathy here, you deserve everything you got! You were breaking the law by speeding and were lucky not to kill yourself and/or some innocent member of the public! Chalk it up to being an idiot and suck it up!

This is also my view on this matter!

So you think the lad should suffer for the rest of his life for one stupid mistake where nobody else got hurt?

No, why would I want him suffer for the rest of his life. Like he says he wants to deal with it which is a good thing.

Are you saying you've never driven over 70mph?

The speed in itself is not dangerous. All cars are dangerous, its just 20mph more dangerous at 90mph. It does not mean that 'you are bound to crash' as if I was a teenage joyriding, driving with a blindfold on.

Nope, never driven over 70mph.

The fact that it is related to a specific, traumatic incident is what makes it more than a regular "fear". However, it should be more easily treatable than a traditional phobia, as it is a rational concious aversion. Phobias can be particularly difficult to treat, as they are often so illogical.

Who said it did?

Well, you agreed with the other poster when he said I deserved everything I got, based on the fact that I was driving over thee speed limit.

Yet it is not certain the extra speed caused the accident.

I'd say technically its not a phobia as a phobia is an irrational fear, and being scared of cars crashing isnt exactly irrational. However, that doesnt help you much :(

Tried a hypnotherapist at all? Heard stories that they work pretty well, though might be expensive

The best cure of your phobia is to start with exposure to breasts. Just look at them to begin with then slowly build up to cupping and finally whapping them about.
