cadburys airport advert

the gorilla one was fantastic.

the adverts work because here you are, right now, talking about them. That's what an advert should do.

is it? , i thought the aim of an advert was for people to go out and buy the product

they may have people chatting but how many people are rushing to the shop to buy a bar?

artistically they are well produced ,edited and directed also fun to watch but as adverts they are rubbish , they do not highlight the product enough and the themes do not link in with chocolate, whats a drumming gorialla or race at an airport got to do with eating chocolate?

I honestly thought the gorilla one was for a Phil collins best of album or something for a while, the airport one only lets on what its for right at the end

people seem to be more interested in talking about the advert itself rather than the product

It's not about direct sales, it's about brand awareness.

It's quite shocking that people think the main point of product advertising/product placement is to make people go out and buy the items. Why do you think companies pay huge sums for product placement in big films?

ahh so they dont actually want us to buy their products they just want us to know they are still about?

its quite shocking some people think that people think the point of an advert is for people to only remember how fancy the ad was and not make the brand its advertising any money

product placement is a great idea and you will notice that the brand name always appears with the product they are trying to promote

How is it shocking?

Some of the best adverts get their advertising by word of mouth.

The adverts supposed make you happy, just like their chocolate.
Endless adverts showing chocolate are booring we all know what they look and taste like :p so I like the change.

that bit was tongue in cheek to mr^bs reply along with the  :)

i agree word of mouth is a great way of getting the product sold but are people going out buying Cadburys chocolate bars on the back of that advert or are they more interested in the how fancy the advert was?

I know for me it hasnt made me want to eat chocolate whatsoever let alone any of Cadburys products

If the advert had say drivers in each of the CG vehicles devouring a nice big bar of fruit and nut and showing the Fruit & Nut wrapper then that would have been great and made the advert a lot better in terms of being and advert

I think if you don't eat Cadburys that often, then it probably isn't going to get you buying any. Might subconsciously one time or two.

I think it's more targeted at those who already eat Cadburys chocolate on a regular occurance, or targeting those people who are about to go down the shop and get some chocolate to eat whilst they watch their soaps.

Just think, what if several thousand people pop to the corner shop during the adverts for Coronation street? They've just seen a cadburys ad (used to anyway? not sure if they still do) - there's a good chance this will sway them.

You could say the same for the Sony Bravia adverts, 'I'm not gnna buy a TV just because of a fancy advert?!'...

But what if you've got cash to blow, and want a TV? Chances are you're more likely to go with the Sony, who's advert has just amazed you... over the Accoustic Solutions crap in the corner?

No, that would be cheesy and the same as every advert on the television. Look at all of the best adverts at the moment.

The one with all the foam floating around. Ok you see some cameras but it's not a guy holding a camera saying "mmmm Sony cameras make me happy!". That's a fantastic advert. Ive seen it 3 times and i know it's sony.

The one with the block of flats and the exploding paint fireworks. Awesome advert. The one with all the balls bouncing down the road, advertising a TV. No TV's in that advert and yet i know exactly what they want me to buy. The Honda one with the guy in the hot airbaloon singing "The Impossible Dream" and the whole time he was driving vehicles that were evolving around him, bigger and better each time... possibly my favourite advert ever.

Point is certainly not holding the product saying "this will make your life better". That's been happening since the 50's and when you're bombarded with Brand names and product types, 150 types of hoover and 200 types of washing up liquid... you need something that sticks out. Something that you remember. That does NOT always mean they put the product in the centre of the screen with big flashing arrows to it saying "i dont know how you live without this" (although that'd be a cool advert).

I remember adverts that make me think, that entertain me. No adverts that try to sell me a product. I appreciate those companies more. I own lots of sony stuff.

The Cadburys ads during Corrie were a brilliant idea, they showed people at home watching TV similar to the target audience except eating a bar of Cadburys , this was a great idea - it gave the target audience a connection with the characters , it showed how happy they were eating cadburys chocolate and it showed the product name a lot so you knew what it was

those adverts didnt have lots of people discussing it them but i bet they done a lot more for sales than the current ones
