cadburys airport advert

ahh so they dont actually want us to buy their products they just want us to know they are still about?

its quite shocking some people think that people think the point of an advert is for people to only remember how fancy the ad was and not make the brand its advertising any money

product placement is a great idea and you will notice that the brand name always appears with the product they are trying to promote

If while you are reading this thread I asked you to name a brand of chocolate, what would you think of first? In fact after discussing it here if you went to the shop and browsed the chocolate Cadbury's would be on your mind. You will more than likely deny it now but that is simply how the human brain works, even if you spend a second thinking, what has that got to do with Cadbury's? then the advert has done it's job, you noticed it, that is all that they require.:)

In fact the very fact that you clicked on a thread entitled "cadbury's airport advert" and joined an online discussion about it means that it has worked it's magic on you and you are still unaware of it :D

No, that would be cheesy and the same as every advert on the television. Look at all of the best adverts at the moment.

well it was just an example but the point i`m making is the advert does not show its for cadburys or any of its products till the very end , even a small cadburys logo subtley in the corner would have done a good job

well it would obviously be Cadburys seeing as that is what would be on my mind at this precise moment, if you asked me in 3 weeks without mentioning a brand then i would say Lindt as that is my preferred brand

this is exactly what i`m saying, its got me thinking of the advert of which i still dont associate chocolate with and it would unlikey persuade me to buy their chocolate or any other brand

when those ads first appeared i didnt have a clue what they were about, i had seen them loads of times but didnt take enough notice to realise they were for Cadburys , i think it was another thread on this forum that lead to me finding out

now you could say thats the magic its done but really it should have been the actual advert that told me what they wanted me to buy and how good their product was, im not saying it has to be in your face type stuff but it needed more than was shown

at the end of the day it hasnt got me buying their product and this is the only place i have seen it discussed or discussed it myself, i dont see my family, friends or work colleagues buying Cadburys but instead opting for other brands

anyways i guess ill just have to be the odd one out here and disagree with you all :)

You seem to have missed the rest of my argument, i can only assume then that you agree with me.

As further evidence, i present this. one of the most famous adverts yet. Please, get a pen and paper and note down how many times you see the word "Honda" before the end. "VTEC" doesnt count.

If the advert had say drivers in each of the CG vehicles devouring a nice big bar of fruit and nut and showing the Fruit & Nut wrapper then that would have been great and made the advert a lot better in terms of being and advert

The trucks aren't CG. Did a bit of snooping about the advert before:

"Titled Airport Trucks, the new advert was filmed over six nights in Mexico using genuine airport vehicles enhanced with rebuilt engines and more glamorous paintwork. The film was shot with five cameras on 800 metres of runway and lit by 40 light stands and 200 blue side lights. "

Also just watching the Airport advert, the first thing you see is "A Glas and a Half Full Productions" which has been Cadburys dairy milk slogan for years. It's immediately obvious what it's advertising.

the advert annoys me. im glad they have shortened it. i think the whole thing is a little camp, though. i preferred the drumming monkey personally.

I think some people need to realise that there's an entire industry behind this - it's not just been dreamt up by the head of cadbury's because he's a huge fan of airport transit, genesis and great apes.

no it means next time you go to buy chocolate and theres cadburys + some brand you haven't really ever heard of before, you go with what you know.

those ads are ok, they connect with the product and show the Brand & Product longer than the Cadburys - although i still bought a Samsung TV so the Sony one didnt work so well on me :)

is that on the offical TV commercial? i have never noticed that part until i saw the youtube version i watched a min ago

Jbuck, whats wrong with creativity and thinking outside the box. Just cause your advertising a product, doesn't mean you have to ram it down your target audience collective throats, maybe if your launching a new product/brand, but if your an established well known brand, that approach is not necessarily going to be successful/appropriate.

Your view on advertising seems quite restricted to the obvious.

i`m not saying anything is wrong with being creative or thinking outside the box, nor am i saying to ram a product down the audiences throats

I`m saying an advert also has to connect with the audience, give them something to think about that relates to the product , let them know what the product is ,etc

my views are not restricted at all, i just see no connection or relation with the Cadburys adverts to chocolate and theres only a few seconds at the end showing what they actually want you to buy

You know nothing about advertising, stop talking.

I don't think this viral works as well as the last one. Looks like they had a massive budget for it, but it just doesn't work as well as the Gorilla did.

thankyou for that contribution

i know enough to have an opinion which some people may or may not agree with, who are you to tell me to stop expressing it? what makes you so special as to tell me I know nothing? are you a leading advertising expert?

You have an opinion which you have based on assumptions, which are wrong and not based on factual knowledge, just speculation that you have invented.

please raise the points in which my opinons are speculative and wrong , seriously i would be glad to read why

The gorilla advert was genuis, the airport one is absolutely awful. It's one of the most boring adverts I've ever seen and has certainly not made me buy any chocolate - I've actually not bought anything of Cadburys for ages!

The advert starts off good but the actual race is dire, the one slow motion sequence is short and utterly pointless. Yes I remember the advert, remember who it's for but the only thing I think is pleas bring back the gorilla advert!
