Trax 2008

I'm looking to get there between 7:30 and 8:00. Don't leave it till much later than 8:30 IMO.

The queues start getting a problem after 8am. 7:30-8ish isnt too bad but there will be a short wait while they sort out the chaos.

Does anyone know of anywhere I could get a couple of hours kip after a late night drive down? I don't really want to get a hotel or campsite for the sake of a few hours, i'll be more than happy to sleep in the car again :)

Quiet carpark/ lay by/ country road/ anywhere quiet :D

Agreed, however you failed to mention the hundreds of tastefully modified cars, track action and 0-60 sprint which see's some of the fastest road legal cars. All in all its a great show if you can block out the chavs and fibreglass nightmares.

I've been for the past 5 years and enjoy the show as a whole. Saying that I'm mostly taking photos around the track.

Are you taking the Astra? I'll look out for it.

I'll be there with Astra Owners Club but I'm not taking my car, we're only taking Jason's this year rather than both.

I like Trax, this will be my 6th year running. I like seeing all the different makes and models in one show as opposed to the Vauxhall only shows. The track action makes it more interesting and chavs aren't as apparent like they are at other shows in the calendar.

Just got back, wasn't a bad show. Shame the weather was so bad in the morning but got better later in the afternoon. As usual a real mixture of cars, there was a large chav contingent, but there were decent cars there too, something for everyone.

The main thing for me about Trax is the track sessions, and in that respect it didn't dissapoint. A round of the ECD drift chapoinship was held and Shane Lynch had a massive coming together with the other Japspeed skyline, writing both cars off

I had two track sessions, both in the morning when the track was wet and it was like an ice-rink, I've never known a track so slippery. I thought is was just my plastic chinese tyres, but then a 106 understeered off the track infront of me at a low speed :/

I gave up trying to get the power down, so just pootled along the straights, only giving some beans in forth which was the only gear I had anything resembling traction. I took all the bends completely sideways :D

The Skyine is amazingly easy to control when getting sideways, I was having a ball

Here's a quick picture that kind of sums my time on the track:

Sorry for the poor quality, it's a camera phone picture of a printed picture I bought. Some of my friends took pics so I'll post better quality shots when I get them.

Minxy - Yeah I went in the Astra but we were parked right on the far end of the display area :(

DreXeL - I looked out for your car but missed most of the time you were out. Managed to grab this pic :)

The track was very slippery. I've never seen so may off's at slow speeds before!

i went today, the weather was a bugger, some cool cars there though if you look past the tat. Went in the 280zx too, which was fun

Drove past this today. Were a lot of Evos and Imprezas and a few Elises etc waiting to get in. Unfortunately there were more lagunas, polos, astras etc in the queue. Were 3 crashes on the 3 roundabouts leading to Silverstone from Northampton/the M1 as well involving chaved cars rather than performance cars which has given me a bad impression of the event from the outside.

We got in with another forum but as the weather was ****, my shoes full of water - was hard to be in a better mood.

Dont know if i wanna go next year.

Saw part of your first session today Drexel. Saw your car in the car park as well. Car looking very nice. :)

Managed to get a photo of your car but using a stock DSLR lens and taking fast cars on a track= blurry rubbish :(

Edited it on photoshop:

The Silverstone Lotus are crazy as well as the Skyline that was drifting in his session. :D

The japspeed crash was mad! The most interesting part of that session.

Ha i didnt go but my brother did and said he was watching you drifting all over the place drexel

haha Good lad :D

Sam

I didn't bother going down in the end, the weather was pants. Apparently during the session that my mates were out on there was an accident involving 2 cars so they abandoned it on the second lap, gutted.

Thanks, looks better when it's clean

You probably noticed the crack at the bottom of the bumper. Not a drift scar this time, I hit it on a curb in the car park at work :o

Love that pic BTW, the slight grainyness/blurriness adds to the mood of the pic
