sli 470 power and heat qwerys?

I stick my GTX 275's together, I love the sound of a jet engine revving up when playing, B:BC2!! Also a source of heat in this wintry weather...

850 watts should be ok for two 470's dude. I have the HX 750, runs myn SLI without breakin' a sweat.

Yep, the 275's are pretty good cards, coped very well with anything i played at 1920x1200, just changed as i fancied a DX11 card, and with the cheap price of the 470's i couldnt resist two of them.

Hi Setter nice one m8, if you have a spare 120mm fan try rigging it behind the 470's see what differance that make's to 470 temp's, might be a quick solution.

Im gonna give cod bo a run to see how things fare in game, do you have them clocked as high for gaming Rroff, or just for benching?

ATM only using high clocks for benchmarking as its pushing my PSU a bit and kicks out a ton of heat - plus even at stock clocks everything flies lol.

Yep, i have two spare 1500 rpm 120mm yate loons, one is gonna be bodge mounted in my 3 remaining 5.25 bays, could try suspending the other behind the cards, and move my 2 hdd's to the bottom of the case. Have a fan controller with 2 spare channels i could put the fans on. Pic above shows how the case is laid out.

EDIT: @ Rroff, agree about the stock point, cod, moh and bfbc2 all play extremely well, not that they struggled much with the single card tbh.

Reran the heaven benchmark, 4x aa this time, (as i forgot it the first time), cards clocked at 751/1502/1674.

Temps maxed at 85-74, auto fan.

Done a bit of ghetto case modding tonight, added another intake fan into the 3 remaining 5.25 bays.

Held in place with sewing elastic.

Also hung a 120mm 1500 rpm fan behind the gpu's, cable tied to the atx power connector and suspended on a shoe lace, cards idling at 33-32c respectively, ran heaven bench and temps maxed at 79-76c, a drop of 6c on the top card from a previous run.

Ghetto gpu fan mod.

Should tide me over till i can afford a side panel with fan mounts, found a shop that stocks a window panel with dual 140mm fan mounts, costs £60.00 though.

I might consider that option, though i wouldnt try it myself, i know a guy who does a bit of cnc work, may consult him about doing it, though i do fancy the look of the Lian Li window panels.

Its easy bro. Get a panel. Put your fan on it 120 - 140mm what ever you want to use in a position where you want it. Draw the circular outline of the fan from the inside.
Get a mesh like this one. I am sure you got some somewhere. now Simply draw the mesh circles onto the case itself until you fill in fan circle.

Drill and some 40 holes later you got a perfectly shaped honey comb holes on your case. Mount the fan with screws. Job done.
