Hi Guys

I'm interested in buying a new monitor, but needed some advice choosing. I have two in mind, that I'm interested in.

So far I have a 17 inch:( plug and play LCD monitor and I know going from a 17 inch to a 27 will be a big jump ;).

I don't do any heavy video editing etc, just web browsing and playing a few games: MW2, BLACK OPS, CRYSIS

Crysis 2 comes out soon, so its mainly for that.

looking up on the forum, both monitors are pretty good, but the Hanns.G HH281HP is higher in res, will that make much of a difference compare to the Iiyama ProLite E2710HDS.

Any advice would be great.

I was considering both these monitors as well.

There are good comments (and a very long thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18139419) talking about the virtues of the Hanns, but I was put of it because there is no 1:1 pixel mapping so when I connect my PS3 or Xbox 360 the image would stretch to fill the screen. I've seen it on other monitors and I don't like it (other people have said they are fine with it).

For PC gaming you are better off with 1920x1200.

One thing to note, which was brought up in another forum, the link for the Hanns you mentioned (HH281HP) has no DVI connection, replacing it with another HDMI. But you do seem to get a DVI-HDMI cable with it.

I personally am still more inclined towards the Iiyama, although the one I was going for was the B2712HDS - the 'B' indicates an adjustable stand, apart from that I think they are the same. See http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18239265 for some useful images and info from buchtis who recently got the E2712HDS.
