Shift 2 Unleashed - Time Trial Championship Season 1

Haven't played this for a few days, I was getting vaguely closer earlier in the week but since Steam got the patch tonight I can't seem to get anywhere near - I'm over 3 seconds slower than I was pre-patch. I feel like I'm driving the same, maybe slightly slower but not 3 seconds slower.

Not sure if I need to re-install Juls' mod, the handling feels fine tbh & the dinput8.dll file is still there in the install dir. What's everyone else's experience of the patch?

I never tried this combo pre patch, I also installed the mod again so unfortunately I have nothing to compare it too.

I'm with Dan. I'm about 2 seconds slower as well. But I didn't see or get any notification of a patch when I loaded the game, so I dunno. I'm going to delete the dll and extract it from the zip file again.

Hitting the apex's seem to be the key to me. If you hit them well I only need to lift of and feather the throttle.

So you're not braking?

I sometimes don't even brake for T1, just let the car roll in and scrub the speed of by turning a lot, after turn 1 there is no need to brake until the double right hander after spilt 1.

Seems to be driving the same as before now after a reboot. A touch quicker, but not much..

Ok, improved my time a bit today. Still no perfect lap. I rekon if I had another hour this morning I would have done a sub 1:51 lap. Unfortunately I run out of time and doubt I will get another chance before tomorrow's deadline.

I also fluffed up saving the replay as I pressed the wrong button on the joy-pad. Can anyone tell me how to change the icons to show xbox 360 icons in the game?

I have to use a joy-pad for menu navigation as my wheel setup is 4 meters away from my PC.

I don't know if it's me or what, but perhaps something is not right with this juls mod anymore. Doesn't matter what I do, what settings I change, I'm always a second or more slower now than my PB by the time I exit turn 9 just after sector 1, let alone try and beat it. I give up, lol. My time is something like 1:54.136 now (done a few days ago) but cba to post it.

Weird as I have not noticed any difference, I have no times on this combo to compare patch and pre patch but if the Patch is slower, my time would be brill pre patch! Hehe

Well this is the best I can do, I did get this post-patch so I guess that's not an issue for me. Off out to the match now so definitely no more from me on this combo - where is Nikaz I wonder?

Hope your mum's health improves soon NIKAZ.

With the patches being released earlier & another due soon afaik, do we want to decide whether we go with juls mod for future events, or stick to vanilla Shift. ?

I haven't had the chance to try out the changes in the patch myself, but quite a few people have posted on other forums saying the handling feels improved.

What do you guys think ?

Sorry to here about your mum, hope she makes a full recovery.

Since redoing windows and keeping the steam folder exactly the same before i did a reinstall steam wants to download the patch for no reason at all, hope the times are the same with the juls mod.... going to try the last combo to compare the handling.

Sorry to hear about your mum NIKAZ, hope she gets better soon.

My version is patched and i find the handling is better so i haven't reapplied the Juls minimod again.

But I couldn't get anywhere near the times set by other people last week after the patch.

Am using the patched version with no mod now. The game feels better since the patch, I don't know about times tho as i'm nowhere near the times being set anyway :p

Thank you all for your kind comments, it doesn't go unnoticed. Many thanks

Regarding whether we need Juls Mod really falls down to how the game's handling/ feel comes across with the first official patch. As you can appreciate I've had little time to evaluate the handling post patch, but initial thoughts were positive. I only tried maybe two different cars though.

My preference would be to go vanilla i.e. NO MODS that improve the handling, grip levels etc. I'm OK with cosmetic MODS like the one's removing EA added track scenery, no prob with them at all

All I ask is everyone does the same whether MOD or No MOD.

Again, cheers guys

Nikaz hope you mum is ok, and gets better ASAP.

My game is patched and modded, I added the mod without thinking but will gladly go with the majority. I am not sure if it's possible to take the mod off easily though. Either way I will sort it out what ever is decided.
