Nice picture. At least they don't take up as much room as regular cases :)

I would be more impressed if you had them from new, as they all look immaculate.

A couple I have had from new.
Every time I pick one up, it is stripped down compeltly and cleaned before getting put back together. I then replace any missing feet / pci covers. Then test all the components and finaly install an OS. They all have fully licenced XP or Windows 7

There are a few with scratches to the case cover, but most are in perfect condition :)

Do you use them all? That's a very nice collection!

I don't use any of them, they are just for display and to have parts available if need for testing other machines.

I will use one every now and again if I need to setup an additional work server to try something out, but basically no they are just for show.

Hi, Nice collection of shuttles. Wonder if you would not mind answering a question for me please. I am about to go from a Corsair 800D (tank) to a Shuttle (SX58J3) with i7 , and an ATI 6950. (As been told they fit, stripping parts from Obsidian). Do they run fairly quiet and although warm, not hot? Thnanks.

I don't have, or know much about the SX58J3 as its still very expensive.
I believe it has 2x PCI-e slots meaning it should accomodate a 6950 ok.
As for heat... Any shuttle, because of its size, will struggle with heat issues if you start overclocking. Fan control is very good and they will cope with heat and run a quiet as they can.

Unless you already have an i7 CPU I would recommend getting the Sandybridge version of the shuttle. There will not be any overclocking as its an H67 chipset, but an i7 2600 will run very cool. The SH67H3 would be my choice

Well thats nearly it, I now have 24 different Shuttles... there are only a couple more that I want. Would love to find a few drive banking plates to get rid of some of the floppy / CD drives which spoil the effect somewhat.

your missing mine a sg33g5
impressive collection tho

Indeed I am :)
My plan was to get one of each style and CPU type... but some of these have just been too good a price which is why I have some of the same style but with different CPU types. The sg33g5 is the same style as the SN95G5 and i already have several Intel 775 so its not one i'm after.

What i do want is to get hold of an Intel 1366 cpu one, but they are silly expensive and the Sandybridge one just flys yest is low power and near silent. Its the H67 chipset so cant be overclocked, but at 3.4GHz and with the GTX570 and a Vertex 3 240GB HD it really motors - super-pi in 11s and 3DMark11 was a score of 6600 without any tweaking.

Nice collection.

Question: What shuttle do you prefer in terms of design/over all quality. If I ever build a shuttle PC i'll take note of what you think.

PS I opened this thread expecting to see a load of model NASA Shuttles, what was I thinking...

The H7 style looks best and has the best balance for me.

I have found the Intel based machines much more fogiving with regards setup and overclocking discounting the early ones where the P4 and Athlon XP / 64 work much the same.

For shear performance and quietness the Sandybridge SH67... is just awsome. NOT SUre about the look of the H3 against the H7 style, but the SH67H7 is £450, where as I paid £225 for the SH67H3 and the only difference is the case and a 500w PSU in the H7 compared to a 300W in the H3

All of the Aluminium based shuttles are very well designed and built. The cooling is excellent, but will never allow for serious overclocking.

Ive got a SN25P2 here, great bit of kit, just wish it ran quieter, doesnt help amds on the am2 platform never did run "cool"

They do look great though :D

I agree the SN25P, in fact all that style are rather loud... better than the early ones though that only have an 80mm fan that rattles.

I replaces the 80mm fan on the side with a quieter one, deciding if i should replace the 2 40mms at the back!

I'm not sure how much benifit the 2 40mm fans have... all the CPU heat goes out the side so I have never really understood what the 40mm fans are helping to cool. Personally I would under volt them and just leave them on minimal tickover, or even remove them completly. I supose the only reason they might be useful is if you have a graphics card with no rear exhaust.
