My Shuttle Collection

I even got rid of a GFX with a fan! its all done with a stonking heat sink now. may replace the cpu fan with a quieter one, thats the only thing i can think of :P

As someone not familiar with shuttles...when you said you wanted each CPU type can't you just change the mobo and CPU yourself?

Not really as the shuttle is a complete system with taylor made motherboards and heatsinks. You can swap a few shuttle motherboards between cases but generic motherboards will not fit in a shuttle case.

The one I have is a pain its a weird BATX mobo that was shuttles own standard. Im sure a bit of modding would work a wonder for an i-atx board though :P

I have put an mITX board in a shuttle. It involved cutting the back as shuttle have 2 PCI type slots and MITX only has one. I also had to remove the shuttle mobo standoffs and add new ones as they are in different locations

Don't spose you have any spare PSUs or 775 or above motherboards you don't want? Or a use for a Hoojum Cubit 5 (Was designed as a shell for shuttles) to fit into your collection?

:p I have a shuttle you no have :p

SN26P ;)

So you do :)
However I considered that to be too close to the SB81P to be of interest. I'm not worried about having every single model... just the key styles and at least one of each CPU type although knowing me I will expand what I'm after as time goes on.

What I really need now is a good display cabinet to put them in.

You are correct.

So are you only looking at Shuttles? I have an old Aopen Xcube, that I was going to throw away (slow sempron chip in it and DDR1 ram :O).

If your interested in broadening your cube shaped collection? Postage is all i require ;)

If he doesnt want it id happily take it off your hands :)

Looking at your expanded collection brings back some fond memories.

Models I liked the aesthetics for, but never owned:
SB75S that was a Soldam case, I think. But when I tried to source one from America it cost too much to obtain, especially as condition was a gamble.

SN85G4 as you could replace the silver paper behind plastic screen for a personalisation look. And fitting a slot loading Plextor optical was very practical.

SS56L as it just looks clean and fresh. And I think, from memory, the front ports used to fold in so flap could be closed and still have devices plugged in.

Edit: Noticed you got a Pioneer XLB drive for black SB75G2 case. I consider that a great pairing as the circular eject button on the optical goes well with circular buttons on case.

Feeling generous so have some stars :)

I wonder if the new Sandybridge based internals would fit in a Hoojum Cubit 5? I haven't had a Shuttle system, but having been running a Intel mobile T7200 based system for the past couple of years this seems like a logical progression :)

Nice collection btw :)
