Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Launched - back to back driving

So, how are people getting on with these now they've been out well over a year? I'm particularly interested in wear rate versus the Assymetric 1. I was thumbing through my cars history the other day and was quite shocked to discover that I seemed to get barely 7000 miles out of my Assymetric 1's on the back after fitting them in 2009. I only paid about £340 for the pair back but then but at todays price of £400 a pair thats more than 5p a mile, just on back tyres!

Admittedly I changed them at 3mm after getting a great deal on some CS3's but even so, scary stuff. Looking like nearly twice that on my CS3's.

The marketing and test results seems to suggest that longevity is, along with rolling resistence (I also gained a good mpg or two moving to CS3 from AS1), something thats been addressed with the AS2.

So, what are everyones practical experiences, especially compared with the AS1?

Can't comment on the AS2's but how many miles are you on on your CS3's and what mm are they on? I never got to see how long my CS3's lasted as i sold my previous car with them on.

Thinking about ditching the runflats when they expire and i do not want to be spending 5p a mile just on rear tyres  !!

about 13-14k I guess. They are down to 2.5mm now so I really do need to get a set of tyres sorted in the next couple of weeks. I'm almost certainly going F1 AS2 no matter how much it makes my 'mismatched tyres OCD alert' go off :(

I'm surprised the AS1 only lasted you 7k, mine are on about 15k now, I'm somehow wearing all of them at the same rate, I expected the rears to wear a bit quicker.

It's not like I hang about either, though my slushomatic limits the fun.

They are going to need changing very soon though.

I can't comment on the Asymmetric 1 as I didnt have them but compared to the SC3 they are lasting better. I used to get about 13 months out of the rear SC3s on my car (changed at 2-2.5mm) and at the same stage the Asymmetric 2s still seem to have a good 4-5mm tread left.

Need 4 new tyres soon.

Tempted to go for the AS2 all around, bit of a risk as it could ruin the handling but to be honest a bit of compliance wouldn't be a bad thing at the moment.

The S001 has only done about 7k miles on the rear

Mine have been fantastic over the past 8k, night and day better than the FK452's and anything Verd is chucking out.

I've been most impressed with them in the damp / cold and ice.

Will be buying these again for sure.

I only got around 5-6k miles out of the AS1 when I had then a few years ago. Mind you my PS2, then PS3's only lasted about the same. I think I posted here stating this and people were surprised that they'd worn so quick.

Just had AS2's put on the front in Feb so way too early to say but I've not had any need to complain about their grip yet.

It's designed to be a tuner tyre, getting decent reviews already but I think it's going to be trading wear, and possibly wet performance for the ultimate dry performance.

I'm due on the launch in the next month or so, I'll be sure to feed back some info :)

oOo - please do, us Honda boys are missing a replacement for the RE010, most go AD08's but this could be the successor and off a cheaper alternative :)

I fitted 4 new AS2's in November to my 330ci and they totally transformed the car. The grip and confidence they give you is excellent. No complaints here.
