Does time exist in space?

Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.

If like you are on the ISS, does time exist?

There is no day, no evening, do they even use earth time and seasons?

Time passes even if the perception of it is different to being on the surface of the Earth (no day/night day/month/year seasonal cycle)

They use Earth time for obvious reasons of synchronicity with Mission Control. Obviously they could choose any time zone but the one closest to the centre of operations would make the most sense.

Yes, time still exists in space or everything would stand still...

You are confusing time with movement. Time is an abstract concept we use as a way to measure things that is all and even as a concept things in the universe don't all use it or experience it in the same way. The common house fly perceives human beings as acting or behaving in slow motion. There is an Amazon tribe that only counts up to four, and when they talk about meeting up, there is no 1,2,3,4,5,6 o'clock etc, but only morning and afternoon and so on. Food for thought.

They use UTC on the ISS.

This.

You're overthinking it (probably for effect). If a spaceman leaves earth and goes to the ISS, does his wristwatch still work, measuring the passage of time? Yes, of course it does.

They need to work with lots of technology and with the people back on earth. To do this they need to work on a common 'time-line', to be able to, amongst other things, syncronise stuff. Plus, us humans need day/night routines.

I would be surprised if they did not simply use UTC (GMT). We do it in work. All our computers, incident logs, time checks, everything, are in UTC. We have two clocks on the wall - one in UTC, never changing, and one that we adjust, when required, to BST.

But to have movement you need time. Seconds, morning/afternoon etc is an abstract concept we use which relates to time. Time itself is not an abstract concept. Like length, width and height - time is a dimension.

Time does not exist it is a human concept. A concept that is very much needed if we are to survive.
Day/Night is not time, but we use time to help us know when it will be day or night.

There is no past or future only here and now. You look to the future to invite the past.

Mr Carlin will explain better! :p

:D

Time is just thermodynamics. Just bits of matter moving around. If the universe was empty, would there still be time?

If time exists only within the universe, and not outside of it, then there is no temporal frame of reference for it's beginning, and hence to speak of time itself is therefore meaningless. It is an illusion in the human psyche arising only from biochemistry.

time is a human concept, it's simply a measurement

we used the earth as a reference

not any more the second is defined

the duration of 9192631770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom

like all the SI units its now based around a fundamental property not the earth or the sun.

Second is the official unit of time, anything else is just a multiple.
