I think this card is going to be a huge seller and gives a lot of bang for buck.

Yup. Ive got the upgrade itch so i think i will get a nice custom one of these if they are around £350.

The 1080 is too much at the moment so the 1070 will be a nice stop gap till vega/gp102.

I will still probably wait to see what polaris can do but if it is only between 390x and fury pro performance i will get the 1070.

The 1070 is the intelligent buy right now, the 1080 is pretty much irrelevant now for anything but Willy waving, it's not quite capable for 4k but the 1070 is good enough for 1440p.

Also for a little more than the cost of a 1080 you can probably buy 2 x 1070 and get a lot more performance, coupled with the dx12 mgpu support when it comes it is a kinda no brainier for me.

This is Nvidia putting down their marker again and AMD have to come out strong now to stand any chance of competing, slot hinges on Nvidia pricing of the 1070, and the unknown quantity that is Polaris.

As it stands now the 1070 is the card to buy until true high end arrives, AMD need something special or its another 970 sales spree coming with the volumes these will sell in

Completely agree.

1440p = 1070
4K = 1080Ti

The 1080 just doesn't have a "use" right now. Pretty sure the 1070 will smash everything in VR too.

I would NEED to buy a 1440p monitor if I went and upgraded from a 970 to a 1070. My monitor is old, only up to 1200p, only has DVI ports and tears like anything.

They're not really expensive these days. When I got mine 2.5 years ago you had to buy one from Korea to get a decent price but there's no need to do that anymore.

One thing however, we need to wait and see what happens with DX12 and these new Nvidia cards.

There seems to be a difference in performance between DX11 and DX12. And I'm not stating the obvious increase in performance here. I'm talking Async compute and all the other stuff that so obviously the 900 series did lack.

The AMD cards have a dedicated Async compute unit as far as I understand. We should ideally wait to see how this plays out in future DX12 titles.

I'll be looking to upgrade from a 970 + 1080p monitor to a 1070 + 1440p GSync later this year and if I can do it for around £700 I'll be very happy :)

Was going to pick up a used 980Ti but I think I'd rather have new tech.

I hope that 1080Ti will be about perfect for 1440p@144 hz :D

I have 1080 Strix on preorder but looking at those performance numbers I might ditch it in wait for 1080ti and get cheapest 1070 as a stopgap (moving on from 570 gtx ;)).
