Can any owners of the MSI Armour tell us what the fan noise is like when idle and gaming please ?
Im after a nice quiet card for a living room pc

Absolute silence. The fans dont fire up until it hits 60c apparently, but I can't get mine above 58 (stock oc speeds), so not heard it at all yet.

Yep mine does the same.
It doesn't overclock at all though.

Do you think it's the fact that there's only an 8 pin connector?

Looks like you guys need to catch up on Boost 3.0.

Pascal does 90% of the overclock for you - which many people mistake for the card being a bad clocker.

And no, more than 8 pin is just silly marketing also on 1080.

God damn it, Yodel are delivering my MSI 1070 Gaming X :( Tempted to refuse delivery, because I've had a few dead on arrival components in the past, and all of them were delivered by Yodel. Not sure if the driver in my area throws the parcels around, but this is just going to make me completely paranoid.

Maybe I'm just being too overly-cautious. Ah well, it's not like it's something with loads of moving parts, or a large item. Even if the parcel was mistreated, I doubt it would break?

Any damage would likely be obvious physical stuff (say a broken fan blade), but the Gaming X is packed very solidly inside an anti-static bag and a big piece of foam. It should be fine.

Ive yet to hear it tbh,the fans don't spin up untill it gets to 60c.
I was playing doom last night on highest settings and it got to 67c max(out of the box performance, bar sliding the power bar in afterburner to its max of 108%,case fans on low speed).

I've not tried ocing the card because frankly it already eats everything thrown at it at 1080p ,but i did move the power slider bar in MSI afterburner to 108%(max that I can set it too) the core clock was running at 1898mhz on occasion going to 1920mhz.

I'm extremely happy with the card, performance is great, silent running and one of the cheaper 1070's,i would happily recommend this card to someone.

Ordered MSI GTX1070 FE last night, hopefully get it Monday or Tuesday.

Upgrading from two 7970s GHz editions.

Will be interesting to hear how you get on. I've recently sold the same cards you. I would be very tempted by a 1070 if it was £350 and I didn't have to pay the Gsync the tax and be tied into only Gsync monitors.

Tonight I'll test my 1070 GameRock Premier, i'll post Firestrike Extreme results with:

Stock
Stock + Power Limit @ max (should make no difference)
Max core speed OC
Max core + memory

I don't think I'll break 5k graphics score like I did with the 980Ti
(I think HoF and G1 did that, while MSI gaming, Inno3D x3 and Amp! Extreme couldn't get there - yes I wasted lots of time swapping gpus)
but I'll have a much cooler card, which for some reason is all I wanted.

P.S. Didn't even know memory was already @8500, don't think I'll even get 5% more (overall performance) with manual overclock.

I am very tempted to buy an MSI 1070 Gaming X to replace the 960 I currently have.

Do you think prices will come down significantly if I wait for a few weeks and supply increases, or will they remain where they are now?

Thanks

No chance of a price cut really. Gibbo said he expects the 1060 to come in at around £300, so the 1070 won't be getting anywhere near that for a long time, especially with the pound predicted to slide further over the coming months.
