Is anyone running a 1070 on an MSI z68a-gd65?

If this should work fine, I assume it should though, does it matter which card to get? I will not be overclocking so just want a quiet and good one :)

Absolutely delighted with the Gamerock 1070 Premium, performance is superb and it looks great in the case. Very grateful to Overclockers for fast delivery, excellent service and competitive price. :)

Got my MSI Gaming X on Friday, ordered Thursday afternoon. Installed and running great!

Not had a great deal of time to actually test it out as I've been busy this weekend, but will have a bit of a session this afternoon! Very happy with it though. :)

Tempted to upgrade in August.

I currently game at 1920x1200 driven by a [email protected], a GTX 970 and 16Gb of ram. It is perfect at this resolution.

However my monitor is from 2008 and tears like crazy and is locked to 60Hz. Even with adaptive Vysnc on I get tearing.

Tempted to get a Gsync 144Hz 1440p panel. But I'd need a new GPU for that. Either a 1070 or 1080.

However is my current CPU going to be able to drive this card? And will I regret buying the 1070 over a 1080 for this resolution?

Do we know yet how DX12 and specifically Async compute works now with these new cards? I get the impression, Nvidia are brushing it under the carpet somewhat as AMD are better in this area.

They still can't do Async compute, but they have some premption tricks which gives them a small boost in DX12, but nothing like the boost AMD cards get.

Yes. I have a 980Ti, which is similar in performance to a 1070, and that has been absolutely fine when paired with my cpu (bearing in mind we have the same cpu and that yours is presently clocked higher than mine). Until recently I was running 1200p, so most of my experience is based on that. Now I'm playing at 1440p, things seem to be somewhat more gpu dependent than before - which is nice as it allows the gpu to stretch its legs even further.

And will I regret buying the 1070 over a 1080 for this resolution?

Depends what you play/expect, though I don't believe you will be sorry with your purchase, no.

The way I play my games is everything max settings wise, but things like MSAA x2 only that way I get the benefits but also save on performance.

I would expect the 1070 to do just that at 1440p in 90% + of AAA titles in the future ~ 2 years.

Currently my 970 can do this at 1200p with the games I have played.

Cancelled my AMP Extreme order with a competitor for the MSI Armor from OcUK. Arrives Tuesday. Can't wait :D

What clocks are people hitting with this card?

Currently have mine conservatively clocked to ~2050MHz boost on the core with memory at 4600MHz. That's just with Afterburner set to 108% Power Limit, +100 Core and +600 Memory.

Anyone else noticed a general improvement in graphics from their old card, even using the same settings? I previously used a GTX 770 which got a fairly respectable 1000-odd on Heaven at the same settings used in the benchmark thread here - however I never actually found the graphics in Heaven benchmark particularly appealing until I ran it with the 1070 (which gets 2500). It looks absolutely fantastic! Was pretty surprised by this, I thought only frame rates would be affected. :)

Excellent to hear. Which model did you get?

Really not sure which to buy, so many of them. Not fussed about cost though, just want the right one :)

Im leaning towards EVGA,purely for resale value
Still want Zotac tho as its in stock

Any non-reference 1070 is a good choice, the main thing I'd say to look at is warranty & customer service. Performance-wise it's all more or less the same +- 2-3fps.
