The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

I might be looking to get a 1070. I have a Silverstone Fortress FT02B case and blower style cards are supposedly better for this case. Are there any non-reference blower type cards that would be worth considering or should I just ignore the blower recommendation for this case?

For your case it won't make enough of a difference, but the better custom cooling will. Go Gainward/Palit for quieter & cooler cards, or Zotac/EVGA for better warranties.

Excellent to hear. Which model did you get?

Really not sure which to buy, so many of them. Not fussed about cost though, just want the right one :)

I picked up the MSi Armor, great card so far, lovely and quiet, not played with overclocking yet, will do that when I put it in a new build.

I picked up a FE from Nvidia a couple days after launch. Yesterday I swapped the cooler out for an Arctic Accelero Extreme IV. Used to have one for my 680 and loved it, so took the plunge. Again really impressed by the noise difference but mainly the drop in temps. Dropping by about 25 to 30 degrees and I've been able to clock it a bit more as well.

So after a weekend of testing out the MSI Gaming X. I am very happy, its a beast. :)

Whats a good boost clock or are they all much the same, and does it actually make that much difference or is it more bragging rights? :)

Bragging rights with Pascal, nothing else (efficiency + voltage lock - we're all neck and neck). :o

I'm at 2125 at low temps and 2088 in full load - but most cards manage to do 2050 and that's just the same amount of fps.

Well I should be getting my card delivered tomorrow finally! For some reason Hitachi never got my esignature and the order was pending yet no one contacted me. Thought I got it all sorted on Saturday told it would be out for delivery for Monday.
Just checked my order status today and no dispatch details still pending.
So phoned today and my order was overlooked.
First time I've had any problem with an order from here.
Just a bit peeved off, Im off all day today and no one will be here tomorrow for the delivery!

Me to ,ordered Friday watching the stock going out the door.
So looking forward to my first NVIDIA card (not counting my gaming laptop) going from a long list of AMD ones, i think it's time for a change driver issues are doing my head in .
Its going in a new build just to use on a racing sim i'm building in the man cave (read garage), but if it go's well will be back for 2 more 1070's with water blocks for my main pc .:D

The price of 1080's is just that bit to much regardless of how you view it .

My Gaming X manages +110/+600 fully stable now, I had tried +125 which was stable in Firestrike but it crashed after an hour of GTA V.

Basically once fully heated up at 100% load for a while it levels out to 2050mhz at 75c on the stock fan profile. Stays really quiet and eats up 1440p, well pleased too. When cool and not under 100% load it will reach 2101mhz :)

So i've kinda got a bit bored/sick of the lack of SLI enabled games i play with my 980 Ti setup. Sadly made the mistake of getting the reference design coolers which is a mistake I've learnt from.

So I've currently decided to get rid of the 980 TI's while the price of the new 1080's are still rather high and just get a single 1070 till eventually whenever the 1080 Ti arrives.

Just a quick question after doing some research it seems the MSI 1070 Gaming X is the best one to go for price/performance/cooling wise. Would that be correct?

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to sell one 980Ti and use the other? Same performance as a 1070 but will save you some serious money.

Exactly, and looking at the review of the GameRock it is only a few FPS behind the 1080 FE so a good deal I think.

Surely the Palit GameRock Premium is a better choice is it not? (assuming you can find it in stock anywhere). £40 cheaper, better overclock and bigger cooler. Whether the cooler will be better I don't know, and then there's the shorter warranty to think about.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. There's not much point spending £400+ for little or no extra performance.

What games? 99% of current games I play run with SLI just fine to be honest.

If your fed up with SLI, I'd sell both your Ti's and just go with a nice GTX 1080. Shouldn't cost you anything or a small amount. You should see 20-30% over current single 980Ti aswell.

Just the Nvidia blower does my absolute nut in. My only other option would be to buy a 2nd hand 980Ti from a well known marketplace with a decent cooler and not lose any money.
