The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

my fan curve keeps fans on also, also I will post it here as it keeps me at 60C max in heavy load.

20% base speed
35% 40C
50% 60C - this is max my 1070 reaches
65% 70C
80% 80C - never had this kick in on any card

also I dont use the curve stype, I set it to jump up at the threshold.

No issues with mine, this is my profile (didn't even check the standard one).

When I look at the pc I feel like taking that ugly monster out, then I see how well it performs and I try to behave.
Just hope they move on to the 21st century for their next cards design.

Just tested out the fans on the Gamerock Premium at 100% - sounds like a jet engine taking off! Might have to use it to cool down the living room in the event of a heatwave. :p

Anyway, I've just been using the default fan settings and I am happy with the quietness and the performance - is there much point in creating a custom profile?

No point at all really unless you're trying to push overclocking for a benchmark run. These massive coolers are complete overkill for the minimal amount of heat these chips put out, so the fans hardly need to work at all.

mine was created on my 970, it was simply already in place when I put in the 1070.

I have kept it because it is working great anyway, fans are inaudible and wicked low temps.

I noticed this too. I ended up making a custom fan curve so the fans stay on.

Thats good at least it is temp related as I thought not some random fault. I can live with it when gaming as I use a headset. Never had this on my evga though which turned fans off. Perhaps when gaming my 970 needed fans on properly where as this has a beast of a cooler and runs cooler anyway?

You should check afterburner and see what the fan curve looks like, maybe is a faulty fan controller. Set a steady speed and see if it can keep it.

Value card? = Its going back.....

Well 1070 OCUK value card arrived, not really happy with it.

Its a lot louder than my 1080 FE in my main rig was so i'm guessing the vapor chamber cooler on the 1080 actually makes a difference.

That coupled with a plain white box and bog standard warranty probably means re sale value will be worse than normal = not so good value after all & return time.

I can get the OC to around 2100 and run benchmarks and stuff but I get artifacts (in Doom only:confused:) unless i knock it right back almost to stock, so my samples a really bad clocker as well.

But fair play to OCUK called them up they said no worries sent me a pre paid dpd label, accepted return no issues.

With some squeezing i reckon i can fit a G1 Gaming in the 250D so have ordered one of those now.

Hi all, got my 1070 founders on Monday and had a play around in Afterburner yesterday. I seem to have pretty good results and in line with everything I've read about the limits, so I presume everything is OK, but want to run a couple of questions by you to make sure I have everything set as I should.

I'm not able to use tinypic in work, so just describing the screenshots that I took. Do all these points seem OK?

Power Limit = 112%
Temp Limit = 92
Core = +270
Memory = +560

Voltage curve - Not touched, but has raised as a whole from increase core speed.

Fan curve - linear, not stepping up.
Fan curve points:

0c - 20%
40c - 30%
50c - 40%
60c - 50%
70c - 60%
80c - 80%

I finally got myself a 1070!

I was on an MSI 660 and have swapped manufacturer to EVGA and have the superclocked edition. I won't be tweaking the card whatsoever.

Like the description of how the fan doesn't even turn on until hitting 60deg and then even at that point it is incredibly quiet. My PC is a front room effort, in a SG07 case, so I want it doing silence while watching stuff like Netflix.

All I need to do is sort myself out with a non-stock CPU cooler and then I should be bang on the money. It's pretty quiet already (thanks to the entire chamber having a huuuuuge fan sitting above it) but that is the final piece of the puzzle.

You realise that with pascal as soon as the gpu hits 50C you loose about 50mhz of boost?

Got it about 20 minutes ago :)

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your GTX 1070.

So after having my Zotax 1070 AMP Extreme now for a couple of days I can safely give my opinion on the card and a few observations i've found.

Aesthetics

It's a very big card, 2.5 slots and the design itself I like, very rare to see yellow in a graphics card without it looking awful, the backplate seems to wrap all the way round the edges of the card and all in all design wise seems extremely sturdy.

However, I don't know why or when RGB lighting become the in thing for pc builders. I'm not sold on RGB lighting but i can be shutoff or the brightness lessened in the Firestorm software.

Performance

Coming from a 980 Ti reference card. Overclocking was a no no due to the fact that the blower fan would within 2 minutes start sounding like I was gaming on a airport runway. so for the majority of its life besides the odd bit of overclock testing it has remained on default clocks.

Before I got the 1070 i did three benchmarks with the 980 Ti at stocks and with 200mhz added to the gpu core and memory. The Zotax 1070 I've managed to add 50mhz on the core and 300mhz on the memory anything higher and I experience artifacts.

My system specs are in my sig below this post.

So as everyone has mostly said, if you already have a AIB 980 Ti I would not honestly upgrade. If you have anything below i'd highly reccommend. Got 980 Ti reference cooler? That might be another question entirely, it might require a bit of thought.

Noise & temperature

Never ever will I again get a reference cooler, so far i've been playing games and the highest temp that the Zotac has hit? 63 degrees celcius. The fan never seems to go above 1000rpm and only kicks in once the card gets to 60 degrees. So compared to my 980 Ti which always hit 83-86 degrees and the fan on 2000rpm+ this is a wonder, its nice to game quietly again.

I've learnt my mistake in buying reference coolers thats for sure.

Verdict?

Extremely pleased with my purchase and despite the RGB lighting rubbish that is infesting graphics cards this year. the Zotac 1070 AMP Extreme will certainly do me till we all find out when the 1080 Ti will be released.

Do you have the Freddy Kreuger then? I can't see the value listed?
