The Polaris RX 480 Owners Thread.

Guys I need some help.

I have a Nitro+ OC 480 8GB but the core clock is showing as 1306Mhz like the non-OC Nitro version. Shouldn't it be 1342Mhz? Or am I being a noob here?

I have turned up the fans to max out at 2500. Brings the temps to 75 and havent had a driver crash yet. I am now a prisoner to gaming in my underpants with the windows open and the lights off so moths don't come in.

I love my new trapped life.

Why hasnt ocuk still havnt got the asus strix model in stock, other sites have.

I'm quite frustrated now as the pre-order I set up was at the beginning of August/end of July time. The ETA keeps changing and the last I heard delivery was expected at the end of last week, but nothing yet...

Evening guys,

Can someone help me from my PC which currently feels like the sun. I was overclocked and getting a right old sweat on when gaming. Set to standard i would rather underclock and get lower temps than to have the GF putting washing behind me in hope that they will dry! Can someone explain this to me? I have a 8GB Nitro+ OC and i just can not get over how hot it blows. Playing Overwatch on ultra if giving me 80c. Such a shame because the rest of the PC is running at 30c under water. But i just don't feel the cost to water this card is worth it for the price bump.

Anyone undervolting theirs successfully care to share their volts/oc?

Thanks.

Off to rub some aftersun on.

Max i get is about 74 in Overwatch. I have never seen 80 on this card, except perhaps on the first day before i sorted out fan profiles. I am also overclocking at 1380mhz and 2200mhz ram. I do have my Overwatch FPS capped at 100 though so that might have something to do with it.. I also have 6 case fans.. but either way, with this hefty overclock i can still run <75.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your RX 480.

Why hasnt ocuk still havnt got the asus strix model in stock, other sites have.

Well sadly, I have just had to cancel my order with OcUK and order elsewhere as after waiting just over a month in a pre-order queue. I was 7th in said queue and my order was not satisfied after an delivery of stock? So I've now had to order from elsewhere and delay even further. Seems to defeat the point of a pre-order IMO. Quite disappointed. The good news is that there is more stock in the UK at the moment and OcUK may have stock in the future. The bad news, the price of these cards has now jumped up by another £30 on this site?

To be fair guys, the last ASUS amd cards were crap...just put the nvidia cooler on and said "it's ready!"

I've got the Nitro + RX 480, was one of the first to get it :)

Solid card, even if it is my stop gap between now and Vega...playing @ 3440x1440 too, it's really performing well.

The highest I've seen it go is 1500rpm approx but it's usually much lower than that, about 1000rpm/20% iirc. Temps usually under 70c but no higher than low 70's. If you don't want to mess with fan profiles etc it's perfect (which is what I had to do with the XFX GTR to stop it from going well over 2000rpm, even 3000).

That's great thanks.

Recently got a 4K TV and obviously the 480 can't do much at that res, but are there any tweaks that will enable me to enhance its 1080P output for a 4K screen?

The latest reviews of the ROG Strix RX480's indicate that they are pretty decent cards. Also considering the fact, I will not be buying another card for a while and I've worked hard to create a PC with a certain aesthetic, I'm not going to buy a card that doesn't fit that. The nitro was not a card I was after, which is why I didn't buy it.

Point being I was hoping to buy that card from this site and the release of stock to OcUK has been weak at best, especially considering they are a pretty major vendor here in the UK. Customer Support has been nothing short of helpful, but I can't help feeling a bit let down by the whole affair.
