The Polaris RX 480 Owners Thread.

For the XFX owners out there this made me giggle... kind of... as I bought one oO!

Oh & if you scroll down a bit further you'll find:

Our bright XFX LED not only looks great and shows off your awesome rig, it also lets others know that this isn't some average off the shelf scrub computer

I quite fancy one of the non-ref XFX models after two Sapphire's (both excellent to be fair though).

The XFX was a cooler running card than the Power Color Devil in the vid I saw.

Have you looked at the back of the box for the GTR? The copy wasn't finished and there are spelling mistakes, graphical errors and editorial input all over it :p

RS specifically has been getting quite a lot of negative feedback.

GTR is the one with decent cooler.

So if it comes to nitro vs rs, go for nitro.

What's different about the RS other than a lower overclock (and presumably a lower-binned chip)? It looks slightly shorter in the photos but I can't really tell.

Do not actually know, I think RS cooler is smaller. Edit: apperently not just smaller, the cooler is completely different to GTR, don't know in what way.

Just saw a lot of negative comments from people about RS one, reporting poor temps and loud fan.

My GTR was not exactly quiet at stock either, had to change fan profile to max 2000rpm (not audible for me) and temps stay around 68-72. (The fan is badly set up, at stock it ramps up fan above 2500 (audible) for no reason and drives temps to 65 even though target is set at 70 in wattman).

Any news when Asus Strix's gonna arrive?

A fair number of European online retailers are saying the end of this week, so 8th or 9th of September. However considering the fact that this card was scheduled for a release mid August I really wouldn't hold your breath.

I've got one on pre-order so I'll be posting here once I get mine. I ordered at the beginning of August, so I'm starting to get a little bit desperate now, expecially since I upgraded from a really old build where my GPU was a Radeon Truecolour 4870.

I expect these cards will go pretty quickly once there is stock available though and once they are gone it'll be a wait again for more to become available.

Just got my card back after RMA - my xfx gtr had horrible coil whine.

I'm now the happy owner of the MSI gaming X which happily dropped to the same price this week :D - pic to follow.

Just tried DE: MD & No mans sky. Performance very similar which is to be expected but no coil whine! (touch wood...!) and as an added bonus it runs a LOT quieter. There was something really messed up with the xfx's fan profiles that sent it into hoover mode at the slightest provocation. Wattman fiddling alleviated it a degree but I'm just happy this product actually does what it claims out of the box:)

Now I just need to get DX12 working in DE as it crashed the 1st time I tried it.

Evening guys,

Can someone help me from my PC which currently feels like the sun. I was overclocked and getting a right old sweat on when gaming. Set to standard i would rather underclock and get lower temps than to have the GF putting washing behind me in hope that they will dry! Can someone explain this to me? I have a 8GB Nitro+ OC and i just can not get over how hot it blows. Playing Overwatch on ultra if giving me 80c. Such a shame because the rest of the PC is running at 30c under water. But i just don't feel the cost to water this card is worth it for the price bump.

Anyone undervolting theirs successfully care to share their volts/oc?

Thanks.

Off to rub some aftersun on.
