Which GPU for £250?

Asking for a friend really. He's got this:

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Cooler Master Seidon 120V Liquid CPU Cooler (TBC)

Asus Z170I PRO GAMING Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard

8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 Memory (TBC)

Samsung 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (x2)

Cooler Master Elite 120 or 130 Mini ITX Tower Case

EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Wants to know the best bang for £250. Any ideas?

1060 6Gb or the 480 8Gb.

But I think what it really comes down to is Freesync vs Gsync. So I'd tell him to have a think about that.

480 4GB. I.e. don't pay dozens of quid more for just memory you probably will never use.

What games does your friend play if you know?

Some games favor each card (1060 v 480) a lot at the moment. For example, if he likes Doom, get a 480.

In the here and now they are trading blows. I would go with a RX480 for no other reason than Kepler and Maxwell's history of not lasting as long as GCN. Performance atm might just be in the gtx1060's favor but really there is nothing in it.

I've often read rather negative reports from review sites of the Nitro. Not just one guy saying his is just great, but detailed reviews saying it isn't so good. What makes you recommend the Nitro?

I've got one and it's taken everything I've thrown at it at 1080p. I have a PC behind my TV stand (Nitro set to 1348/2150) and the noise of the Nitro on full is way quieter than my PS4.

The only problems I've had are with the new Deus Ex on DX12, crashes a lot. DX11 is easily hitting 60fps with most settings on full or thereabouts.

Unfortunately yes, though were holding many of our prices for the moment to see if its just a knee jerk reaction to the news that article 50 will commence by end of Spring.
