hey hey
im doing a project for college (national dip in IT) anyway i need to find out about what types of internet and intranet. and i cant find any decent links anywhere

just wondered if any1 else who does this course has found any ???

Maybe if you could clarify what you're after?

For example, do you want to know the difference between internet and intranet? different types of intranet software? different internet browsers?

*goes to read kids books as his brain is currently running at that level*

From Nielsen, there are three general categories of intranets:

1.A single, well-managed server with a single, well-structured information architecture and navigation system controlled by a single designer. This type of site minimizes the degree of difficulty involved in maintaining it. However, there can be some delay in the propagation of information to all users with only a single server.
2.A larger system with multiple servers. These are not coordinated and rarely have a consistent design with individual organizations in the corporation going their own way. The similarity to information chaos is not coincidental.
3.A combination of the previous intranets. There are many servers, but there are well-organized and well-known guidelines and standards along with a thoroughly tested navigation structure.
