With all the this week only offers at overclockers on Intel C2D is it worth getting an E6600 or will the price drop further next week when Intel announces its price decrease on 22 April..??

As a rule of thumb, processors always fall in price.

There have been some exceptions to this rule (i.e: Opterons) but if you want the best deal then put the brakes on, enjoy the sun and check the prices in a week or three!

I can see that the new "This Week Only" offer is listing lots of C2D chips, and the E6600 which I have my eye on is at £152.74! :D

Down from around £179, I think it was yesterday or so, both including VAT.

Hmm very good price, very tempting, but its the e6700 that has had a 'MASSIVE' price slash (like £150 pound off!), not that I would buy that over the e6600.

£129.24 inc. for the e6420 is the cheapest i have seen that chip for sale, I reckon they will flog a few of those!

The Q6600 @ £366.59, they really have lobbed a big chunk off that.

maybe they just lowered it a bit before the price cut so it encourages ppl to buy now, and still make a bit of a profit.

but at the same time if the prices drop 22nd then the this week only prices would have to to

I got a feeling they have done this minor price drop. When monday comes round and there is no more price change people will just buy the chip thinking this is the price drop. Next Thursday the price will drop again

Hi there

These are the new Intel price drop prices, OcUK is giving you Monday's prices now. When This Week Only ends prices will go up but not back to their previous original much higher price but more likely just go up by £2-£20 dependent on CPU type.

Also our prices are based on the new exchange rate too hence why the price drop is rather good. :)

I hope they hurry up and go down i feel like ive been waiting for ages i want to get my new system up and running

Hi there

OcUK won't be lowering prices by much more as this is price drop stock and its all official UK stock and not grey.

The only way prices will drop further in the future if grey stock becomes available on the market for substancially less than current official UK stock. However with this price drop and superb dollar rate its highly unlikely grey stock will be much if cheaper at all and as such OcUK will stick to UK official stock. :)

I pre-ordered the q6600 2 days ago and it has dropped in price since then .. think i will be refunded the diff back to my card or will i have to cancel and order again to get the new price?, ive left a webnote saying that anyway.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is regarded as grey stock?

Hi there

Basically stock that was say not originally destined to the UK market and as such it gets sold to the UK market for a lower price.

well i am a very happy bunny :D got a QX6700 of an auction site for £460inc... and the offical price has only gone down bye £24 inc VAT.
