If people know what they are doing they can have an easy ride on OSX or Windows.

My XP on the laptop is stable and rarely crashes.

Yet you see Windows on a pc where they havent got a clue and its got a million toolbars on the web browsers, a desktop full of trial versions and a serious messed up startup where a million cheap crappy programs are running because people just click yes to anything.

Then they start moaning about Windows

true i think mac abuses the fact the windows is more popular and i must admit are clever at using it by giving a false pretence to mac will never ever have all this crap on there system.....

Thats not even an OS crash..... thats a program crash, no doubt ms software

This is an OS crash! :p

I don't understand Apple.

They target their computers at creative professionals and teenagers, deduced by their advertising. They also like to think they are the kings of multimedia/entertainment computing. Yet their computers are seriously lacking relative to windows based PCs. I was going to buy the new Macbook Pro, but why bother when a Sony laptop is faster, has fast memory, a better graphics card, Blu-Ray and HDMI output (and the function to perform as a DVD/Bluray player without even turning the thing on!) etc etc

I'm sure OSX is much nicer to use, and more stable, but Apple simply don't offer enough to win a lot of users over.

If the new MBP had native HD resolution, HD-DVD players, hdmi output etc then they'd be on course for success.

And we all know about your "vast experience" of Macs and your irrational hatred of them.
I have plenty of experience of using OSX thanks, and as the above posts says, there is nothing irrational about it. OSX is inferior to Windows and Macs are obscenely overpriced.

Wow massive crash stories here, I'm still dual booting one of my xp install wich i've had since over 6 years, originally a win98 se install ( upgarded to me, to xp after) wich still works fine, never ever seen an OS itself crash beyond repair, seen crashes of the os itself thought ( blue screens), but not yet in vista, vista has been stable for a month now or so rock solid, just apps occasionally dont like it all, xp also no bsod since years probably, at least since sp2 was out I've had no bsod's.

Concorde, what are you doing with your OS'es lol?

As for osX, didn't like it when I've tried it in an apple shop, looks far less effieicent to work with as windows, prefer vista by miles, also no directx for gaming :( .

LMAO @ crash by the way :D .

Inferior in general? No chance.

Macs pee all over PCs in certain environments. I know if I had a major advertising account to work on, with huge EPS and PSD files, I'll be using OSX with 8GB RAM thanks.

Yet if I want to play a bit of Splinter Cell, PC all the way.

As said that's merely an application crash.

Although I use Mac's almost entirely now I never had any real problems under XP. I don't think I had a BSOD in the 2 or so years I had my last custom PC.

That said I much prefer OS X and won't be going back to Windows unless they really grab me with their next release. In any case I would merely install Windows onto my Mac.

my XP never crashed, apps did not XP. Vista seems solid, I have had the machine BSOD but this has always been down dodgy hardware or badly written apps
