OcUK is King at bringing you custom 290's before any other Etailor in the UK and we have secured the first waves of stock from most board partners. :)

With the Chinese and bitcoins carry on, I can see healthy price drops with all the 290/X's. I hope this is thecase anyway :p

I am looking at the graph on btc-e.com and bitcoin is rallying hard. It only went down to 500 or so from the recent high of 965. Currently 640. People are determined to make Bitcoin work, it's a cause, so no cheap AMD cards just yet. ;)

What's the Toxic cooler like compared to DCU II / Twin Frozr / Windforce?

Lots of money to be made trading with this up and down carry on ;)

Any way, nice card, good price.

Is a 290x with the Tri-X cooler the top of the line Sapphire variant? Or is there likely to be another version 'Toxic' or otherwise? Similar to where MSI have the Gaming and then the Lightning for example. I have a pre-order on the MSI Gaming at the moment but I'm not sure whether to stick or not... The Asus DCU II looks good and the 280X Toxic is considered the best of those... Admittedly, choice is a good problem to have :)

At the moment the Toxic is Sapphires top modle, personally i would go for the Toxic and Asus DCU II over the Gaming.

Thanks.

While I understand that this uses the same Tri-X cooler as the Toxic I'm not clear on if this is therefore 'The 290x Toxic' or whether a Toxic (or other) will follow from Sapphire - ie: Another version with upgraded PCB and other 'ahem' knick-knacks.

Thanks.

Who knows. They could come up with a better one at a later date, a GTI-S version. For now this is the one.

Is the 290x going to worth the extra £110?

No.

Looks top notch! Good things come to those who wait eh? Shame I was not one of those people and am stuck with a noisy beast!

VGA Cooler Rev. 2 ICY VISION

Accelero Xtreme III

This isn't the Toxic. They would be making a far bigger hooplah over it if it was.

IIRC Gibbo said they ship GPUs in 3 forms: total package, PCB and chip only. AMD must have very recently started releasing PCBs with no cooler, but the Toxic will require the 3rd and final supply line from AMD, bare chips.

Just a very similar cooler.

The Toxic edition will probably share the same cooler, but have an uprated PCB and more impressive out of the box clock speeds and will cost quite a bit more too.

Im sure it goes a little something like this..

Dual X > Vapor X > Toxic (7xxx Series)

Tri X > Vapor X > Toxic (for the 290's at least)

:)

I think the Toxic uses the Vapor X chamber with higher clocks and a better PCB
