Hi everyone. having recently purchased the agility 3 ssd (from another vendor unfortunatly) i have been dissapointed with my windows boot time which is a lot slower than my previous intel x25-v ssd.i have ran a few benchmarks and have been dissapointed with the results ( see below)

my motherboard is only sata2 so today i installed a highpoint rocket 620 card hoping to get a speed increase, but the above benchmarks are about the same:confused:
real world performance is ok im not experiencing any bsod as many users are, so i have stuck with the 2.06 firmware.

having read on this and other forums about the aglity 3`s varying performance im just wondering if i have bought a pup as im getting nothing like the manufacturers performance figures.
the drive is set to ahci in the bios
im not using a sata3 cable as common consensus seems to dictate there not needed?
any idea guys?
any help would be greatly appreciated before it goes on e-bay!
thanks in advance. phil.

am not too worried about the rocket its hardley giving me any performance gains as it is, i was actually thinking of putting the agility 3 on e-bay ( unless the vendor will accept a return) but thanks for your reply.

Only thing i can think of is that your boards native SATA is not handling this well and that Rocket is rather mediocre to absolutely horrible in my experience (slow, detection of some SSDs depends on prayer etc..). Not that au fait with AMD stuff anymore, any SATA chipset drivers etc.. that you might need to install for your board?

i have installed the latest (2009..lol) AMD Chipset Driver for my board, it did nothing.the rocket seems fine to be honest, everything is pointing to the drive just not being as quick as expected/stated, but thanks once again for the reply.

i could put it on my sons pc, but to be honest i cant be arsed to format it re-install only to probably find its the same, then have to format re-install it back onto mine.
i fancy the crucial m4 and have read a review on here about some one who had a similar experience to me which was cured by the fitment of the crucial ssd.
thanks again for the reply mate.

No worries, might well be a dud, the fiasco with the latest controllers is not good for the respective brands, i've returned 2 Agility 3s because of the bluescreen errors and nothing i did worked, the Vertex 2Es i replaced them with are fine. I'm not blaming the companies, more the controller manufacturer but maybe they should have tested these things properly and longer before releasing them into the wild, i'm sure we'll forget about these issues once its cleared up but right now i'm sure their sales are hurting a little.

I got an agility 3 from overclockers that is running as slow as yours and I rma'd it a few days ago, they are in the process of testing it, I will go for the crucial m4 if a fault is found.

that looks about the same performance as my force 3.they are both sata 6 drives and don't give full speed on sata 2 or on my sata3 controller.what sata 3 controller does your board have?

Not the drive matey, its your controller

controller now is a highpoint rocket 620. not sure about the onboard controller ( but it was slower than the rocket)
i know AS SSD does not give a true reading thats why i also included the atto benchmark as well.

i was thinking about going for another motherboard with a 6gb sata controller, can anyone recommend a board?...

Let me know how that goes, I too am suffering from very low Agility 3 speeds! :p

Mine lasted 3 days ! BSOD/freezing pc etc. So sent it back. (not Overclockers shop)

Updating firmware was a problem. Help from OCZ was "no help at all".

Refund on it's way.

Forums are full of people having problems with this drive.

just to update everyone .. firmware 2.11 is out.

and as for speeds its just seems you need to use the right setup , crystalmark with all 1's or 0's gets 240mbps+ on up and down.

real world windows speeds however copying a film to the drive will top out at 60/70mbps while pulling data from it will jump from 100 to 170 depending on what your doing.

stability wise its good now that ive got ahci and trim on.

not what I expected when I ordered it but not so bad I can warrant sending it back.

It would be nice to have Real speeds reported once in a while.

These drives are pretty crappy tbh well the one I got for a build was anyways. I installed one on a Asrock p67 motherboard and speeds were rubbish not even up to sata 2 speeds, that was on a sata 3 port as well. All the builds I have done since I have avoided using ocz ssd's and had no problems. If they bring rubbish like this to market just boycot them in the future that's what I have been doing.
