Hey,

I'm really sorry to ask a question that's been raised a hundred times before but i'm really struggling.

Before anyone comments - i have used the search function on the forums and i've exhausted google to the point of no return.

I'm hoping you good people can point me in the right direction as i'm pulling my hair out at the moment.

I purchased the AM200 and WRT54GL recently being advised that they are a great combination in functionality and security. I upgraded the WRT54GL to the most recent tomato firmware and left the AM200 with the normal firmware that it came with.

I have tried every combination of PPOA, full bridge, half bridge but can't get the modem and router to talk properly.

The idea was to have the modem on 192.168.1.1 with PPOA, though it forces me to type in username and password which means i get failed internet access as 02 is blank. I then tried bridged mode which half works but doesn't hand over internet access to the router.

the router WAN address was set to 192.168.1.2 and LAN to 192.168.0.1 with DHCP enabled.

Not sure if i've explained myself properly - but there's so many options on these units i don't know which i need or not.

Friend of mine suggested i just switch on DHCP on the modem and just use the router for wireless. To me that seems that i'm bypassing the security of the router all together which seems a real waste.

any advice greatly appreciated - or if someone has this setup on 02 i'd be happy to see your config :)

Cheers in advance.

Yimpy

CAn you get the AM200 to connect on its own. (did you ring o2 to get the correct info to use the AM200)

Im not yet on o2 but my current setup is the same AM200+WRT54G

AM200s ip addy 192.168.1.1
WRT54G ip addy 192.168.2.1

DCHP on both

if that dont help I will look at what other settings I have.

Set it like this:

AM200:

The ADSL2+ User Forum said:
Select (encapsulation as) ETHoA or Routed Ethernet over ATM or 1483 Briged connection
There is no login infomation required
(Multiplexing) : LLC
VPI : 0
VCI : 101
MTU: 1500

Then set the WRT to get its WAN via DHCP. Should work fine. You'll have to play around with Encapsulation (I use PPPoA for UK Online's LLU 24 meg, but apparently Be*/O2 is different). You also seem to have the wrong idea about the IP addresses involved for the AM200 and WRT; though I stand to be corrected due to Be*/O2 being different.

The AM200 and WRT should be on different subnets to work properly in bridged or half-bridge mode. This is certainly the case for me, at least. I have my AM200 set to 192.168.100.1 and the WRT to 192.168.1.1 (could just have easily have been 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1 - basically so long as the second to last number is different).

Hopefully this is of some help. EDIT: Don't forget Be*/O2 require no username or password.

I have the AM200 (Firmware 1.19.04), and set to bridged, and it worked with the WRT54GL (Tomato 1.23)

The AM200 was set to Bridged, as people are saying, the WRT54GL's WAN mode set to DHCP..

Initially though, it didn't seem to work, (I suspect this is what you have experienced), and was flitting through all the combinations, to no avail..
I had almost given up, but as luck would have it, I had left it in bridged mode, and went to make a cup of coffee, on return, the WRT54GL had miraculously picked up the WAN addr via DHCP.. Reading on other forums it has been noted it can take upto 20 mins for DHCP to get an address initially.. Once it had an address, it instantly acquires it now, no matter what!

Oddly though, I am no longer using the AM200! And am using my old Netgear DG834N with DGTeam firmware set to pure modem mode, as this has a nice and permanent SNR tweak that gives me an extra ~3Mbps sync value!..

Where did you get that firm ware from, any chance of a link/copy please.

Mine came with 1.19.04 on it.. reading around it's not officially available on the linksys website, although some people said they had success getting hold of and flashing the AM300's 1.19.04 firmware..

can you back your firmware up via the am200 and mail me a copy please.

How is this done? the 'backup' feature in the modem just backs up the settings, not the firmware, wouldn't I need some special firmware tool for this? I can't find anything via Google??

Damn I though you could back up the firmware.

Just a shot in the dark but is there a back up copy on the CD that was with it (if there was a CD)

Clairvoyant: why are new AM200 installed with the firmware version 1.19.04
Ryan (30044E): I am afraid that Linksys will never upgrade the router with the Beta firmware which has been decommissioned
Clairvoyant: I have talked to someone who has a new AM200 and his firmware is version 1.19.04
Clairvoyant: from our chat "I have the AM200 (Firmware 1.19.04), and set to bridged, and it worked with the WRT54G"
Ryan (30044E): I am afraid that authorized dealer of Linksys does not provide the same
Clairvoyant: so then I can not use my AM200 with my new ISP (o2.co.uk) from tomorrow
Ryan (30044E): May I know why you wish to have the Beta firmware ?
Clairvoyant: as I need to use full bridged (currently I can only use half bridged)
Ryan (30044E): Okay
Clairvoyant: http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=DSL&thread.id=6221

Ryan (30044E): Okay
Ryan (30044E): I would be able to escalate this case to my senior technicians and they will get back to you with the possible resolution in next 48 - 72 hours
Clairvoyant: ok
Ryan (30044E): Can you please confirm your Email Address and phone number?

I had a similar conversation with the same guy on Saturday. I had to phone them up because he couldn't resolve my problem (half bridge mode not working properly). They said that they would send me the beta firmware.

I phoned up today to chase them up and they said that there was no such firmware and that's why it hadn't been e-mailed to me.

If you manage to get hold of it. Please could you sent it to me.

Thanks.

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I was trying to setup my AM200 + WRT54GL on o2 as I could not get the AM200 to connect by itself.

This has been working fine since the 21st Jan when I got activated.

So if you follow the same settings you should be fine.

I have no scripts running at all.

i love you. i could nibble your shell like ears.

i was just returning to the forums to express total dismay at my complete failing to get this working. i spent easily another 5 hours laying on the cold floor swapping network leads and routers over.

i'll give this a try now and get back to you
