Far far away....
Boots, Superdrug and Tesco have recalled tubes of Savlon after animal rights extremists claimed they have contaminated the antiseptic cream. In a written statement, the animal rights group claimed using the contaminated cream would cause harm.

The group said it is targeting drug producer Novartis because of its links to Huntingdon Life Sciences in the UK.

Novartis said it had not found evidence of any tampering, but warned consumers to be careful.
"Examine the package carefully... and avoid using [it] if the packaging has been interfered with," Novartis said.

The police are investigating the incident.

Just how low can you go, Savlon is used by millions of parents on the children for all sorts of cuts and scrapes, ironiclly probably by parents of these "Animal Rights" lunatics years ago on them.

No while I don't agree with animal testing for cosmetics I whole heartedly support animal testing for medical research.

I don't agree with what they've done at all although I wonder if they actually did anything as they know the product will have to be recalled either way so they acheive their aim regardless.

Agree totally.

It's not like any passing idiot can legally set up a monkey-torture facility in the back of his van, if you want to experiment on animals there are gods-know how many ethical guidelines and legal codes of practice you have to follow.

Even if it is just to hurt the profits and reputation of Novartis, there are parents and adults today who have used Savlon and are now going to read this.

Quite clearly the damage done doesn't begin and end with Novartis.

I agree but hopefully they won't actually have contaminated savlon.

animal rights activists are always a fun bunch. To me they seem like a bunch of half-arsed terrorists with the same kind of limited narrow minded vision. Wonder if they would be suprirsed about anti-terrorism laws actually applying to them?

I like the one who combat boots, now where did that leather come from?

Personally, i would get thousands of animals to test the so-called tampered products on, and show that to the protestors.

On a serious note, i am against animal testing, but i can sort of agree with it to save humans. But then i sort of don't see why we have more rights than animals? Just because we are cleverer/stronger/more powerful than them.

Cosmetic testing = no
Medical testing = yes

Also, some of them are just as worse as the nazi's. I mean they dug some old woman up out of her grave because her family own some guinea pig breeding facility used for testing. They should all be locked up IMO :mad::mad:

And they should be used for testing!

Who said there was no such thing as win win!

Unfortunately, me and the missus have had dealings with these sort of people. The mother-in-law is involved in animal rights in a big way (although she herself is in no way extreme...) and they truly are a bunch of lunatics. My wife tried to help them out by designing some literature and a website for them and in the end she washed her hands of the whole thing because they were so psychotic. They are an astonishingly narrow-minded bunch. I could quite happily throw the lot of them into a lion enclosure so they could see first hand how beautiful nature is.

Me personally - I'm all for testing on animals for medical research, as long as it's essential and well regulated. I'm against testing on animals for cosmetics. And I love my meat :)

I bloody hate the scruffy, smelly pathetic excuses for human-beings. My ex-girlfeind [sic] was heavily involved with them. She was one of those bloody stupid people who broke into premises and released animals, and quite regularly went hunt sabotaging!

God, just thinking about her makes me want to kick the face off a badger!

Yea, reminds me of a situation that was described to me.

They broke into a university lab one winters evening and released the whole lot of frogs, rats, bunnies etc...

Staff arrived next day and found a whole load of dead animals around the doorstep and around the windows, clearly the animals didnt get very far in the sub-zero temperatures and in the end died for nothing....

smart innit...

But they were free and that is what counts for the activists.
