Been using the seagate 32mb 500gig drive for a few months in my media centre - all seems fine. Today I was using the PC and went to get a glass off water and found the PC had rebooted and was stuck on Identifieing IDE at boot up... restarted the PC a few times - same sticking - cant even get into my bios - reset cosmos... still no joy. So unpluged the seagate and pc booted fine into bios (2nd 500gig for files).

It seems totally dead :( anything else I can try? The second 500 gig (seagate too) seems to vibrate less than dead drive.

Take the battery out leave for a minute, put back in a should be fine? after that you will need to re-set the time and the settings you made changes too.

right - just swapped the circult board from my other 7200.11 and the drive is seen - but it wont boot into windows and fails the seatools test right at beginning :(

Will have to RMA the drive
