hello

im a guitar noob of sorts, i can play a few open chords, and im looking for some easy songs to play, i can play stuff like wonderwall by oasis and am looking for something similar but less by oasis ;)

i tried playing green eyes by coldplay but i really struggle with the Bm chord, so it always sounds terrible

can any recomend me some stuff? :)

Travis have some real easy songs to play if you like that sort of thing (which I do!). Avoid Why Does It Always Rain On Me if you don't like Bm, but a lot of the others are just open chords. Try Sing, Side, Writing To Reach You (a lot of the same chords as Wonderwall), Driftwood (as long as you play it capo'd at fret 7 and not 2 ;)), Tied To The 90's, Follow The Light, and maybe U16 Girls although I think it has a Cm in it.

how're you playing it? are you playing it as an Am barre chord at fret 2? or are you playing it the open way?

barre - im not that dopey :P - its just my fingers all ways foul the strings below (mainly first and second string) and i cant adjust my wrist position because of the bar

thanks will look up travis

Try playing Green Day - Good Riddance.

G9, Cadd9, Em, D

EDIT: You can also try Johnny Cash - Hurt.

Pick:
Am, C, D

*Chorus*

G, Am, F, C
G, Am, F, G

the who... pinball wizard

B (suspended... ignore if you want)

A (suspended)

G (suspended)

F# (sus)

The cool rocky bit is

B.. A... D... E all major

Obviously there is more to it.. but thats the fundamentals of it

I didn't think that was Bm... if that was what you were referring to.

Try The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work, Sonnet and Lucky Man, they're pretty easy and nice to play I think.

Good call! Richard Ashcroft is just one of those people that can take the simplest chords and make cracking songs. When I try and do it they end up sounding like nursery rhymes. :o

That's the Bm I've always played - Am shape moved up two frets.

Sic mentioned it at Fret 2, making it F#m!

And I agree with your Richard Ashcroft comment, I can't make anything that simple sound any good either :o

Am barre chord at fret 2 is Bm

without the barre it probably has a stupid name, but there's a Bm chord as well, i just cant remember how to play it.

Ah, I see where we've got mixed up, you said Am barre chord in your first post which I thought you meant Am barred at fret 5. That Am moved to fret 2 is F#m.

Ruddy chords... :)

dont start arguing in my poor thread :( its only a chord :D

c and g 9 are fine was me being dopey - good song to play methinks

will look into the verve later

I've just been playing about, I think that struming between these chords sounds quite nice (if anyone's interested)
