Hey, basically I need to do a CV (need a part time job) but I haven't done one in so long i've forgotten what to do.

Contact Details,
Information about myself,
Education,
Skills,
Personal Statement

Is there anything else that I've missed?
Also, should the CV be fancy or just basic and to the point?

Very straight to the point.

I've never written a CV, but I know that most employers like to waste very little of their time searching for the important stuff.

Plaint text and I usually have the personal statement on the covering letter rather than in the CV.

Don't forget to put down references, preferably work related ones, if not get a friend to vouch for your character.

Don't write Cv at the top either, the employer knows what it is so no need to tell them.

I personally have at the top my name in bold size 16, then address, DOB, telephone number, e-mail adress all in size 12 plain text and all centralised to make an impact at the top of the page.

The go on to Education, employment history, interests/achievements then refrences all with their own title on the left hand side in bold, making the use of bullet points to describe each section. Don't just write paragraphs of rambling, be concise and to the point about what you are trying to say.

And finally print it on plain good quality white paper.

In answer to one of your questions above a CV should be simple and clear. Don't use fancy text that is hard to read either.

Do not include things like your date of birth. You do NOT need it, it wastes space, it's completely unneccesary.

Do not put 'going out with friends' in the hobbies section. It looks daft.

Put contact details at the end. Sell yourself in the first part - if they wish to then contact you, they can. They don't need your contact details unless they like what they've read.

I personally would, it takes up one line and and it makes sure that the employer has all the info they need about you. I would think they would want to know how old you are. I mean when do you ever see an application form for a job that doesn't ask your D.O.B?

Do you really want your employer to judge your abilities based on your age though?
