Starting Far Cry Again... What Mods?

Morning all.

I'm thinking of blasting through Far Cry again, before I take the plunge can any of you savvy people recommend any mods/extras that are worth installing before I begin?

I just completed it for the 2nd time on the weekend, was good going through it again. I didn't run any mods!

just stick it in paradise mode in 6xAA with latest patches

There's a patch for 64bit processors which increases some texture detail and draw distance afaik, that seems like quite a randy one to install.

The setting you can enable in the graphics section in the menu. There are a few different rendering modes, paradise being one of them.

Try the realism mod - not sure where you can get it, but I know its around...

Changes a few gun settings, means you lose the ammo in a mag when you drop the mag, proper realism settings/damage for the weapons.

Cant remember what else it had in it - I'll have a look if i get time at work

nah, not HDR, makes it look real nice though. ( i think better than messing around with the 64bit patch and all that)

ill show these again - (its only 4xAA on these aswell)

I recently installed a 8800GTS card so thought I would go back to Far Cry (after at least a 12 month absence) with the settings set to max and at 1900x1200.

I couldn't believe it! I keep stopping to look around and admire the scenery

Must try paradise mode

a 7800 GTX can do HDR no problems

And i too have recently been working my way through this on my x1900xt and its been lovely - although i've got stuck now because the game won't trigger the end of level sequence at some door in a bunker

Think it was made in 2004, such a great looking game - nice sshots. Can't believe I missed that paradise mode!

all the rendring modes are "not supported" in my options

why would that be? running x1900 xt in crossfire with ati cats.

You sure that's not the level where you need the keycard first before it triggers the end of level?

I played it on highest difficult and got really annoyed with it half way through. People said it got harder which just added insult to injury. Alert one guy and the entire level hunt you down

. Oh and that was before saving was an option.

Thought I'd try paradise mode but the renderer option is greyed out and fixed at direct3d9.

Is that only available with some graphics cards? I use a BFG 8800 GTS.
