Right, after giving it major thought and some research i've decided to start the hunt for an ST-2 Focus.

Ideally my budget is between £8-£9.5k really, looking for the ST-2 in the performance blue.

Having not purchased a car for over 5 years, where's a good place to start?

Thanks for any advice :)

what kind of situation are you in?

family car required or could you go for a 2 seater?

Family car not needed, just me and the girlfriend and enough room for shopping ;) My current Focus has a massive boot and I like the idea of that.

You'd get a nice Boxster S for your budget. Would tick all boxes above, you even get two boots.

That revitup place have some corkers often for sale, they seem to find some good cars, been looking on there myself.

I'd love a Focus ST but I don't think I could justify the fuel costs.. shame as everything else is cheap enough regarding them.

Just as a guideline, paid £8500 for mine with 30,000 miles, one owner FFSH.
They are not great on fuel but you can get 30mpg.

You can easily exceed 30MPG on a run without trying, but around town expect 20MPG, then anything more is a bonus ;)

Ours is a 07 prefacelift and if I had the chance now I'd get a facelift one, might be a bit more than the one found above but worth it in my opinion.

You get a new dash style which I prefer and the push button start plus some other styling tweaks like a rear defuser.
With the ST-2 you don't have the option of leather seats but you do get 5 usable seats where as the ST-3 only has 4

In reality your looking at 25MPG

Just got one of these aswell. Paid £8000 for an 06 reg ST-2, performance blue, FSH (one owner from new) with 55,000 miles from a Ford dealer with 0 % finance (half paid up-front)

Lovely car, and the only real downside is fuel consumption. Not a big deal for me as i will only be doing 6-7k miles a year in it but my general commute to work and back only nets me about 23 MPG ( I saw 31 MPG driving it home on the motorway though!! :p). I was coming from a Celica (140bhp) and at the moment it is only costing me about £20 more a month in fuel, so :o

Ofcourse now i'm incredibly tempted to get the bluefin stage 1 remap for it!
