Synchronize the built-in calendar and contacts on your iPhone with your Google account.

* Get Google Calendar events on your device
* View multiple Calendars in different colors
* Synchronize your Contacts with Google
* Have changes pushed directly to your phone

blah blah blah blaah.

Just been moving all my Outlook 2007 contacts and Calendar entries to Googol Mail/Calendar with it updating more or less in real time on my jailbroken 3G. Schweeet.

Only issue I see is that when you add UK addresses to your contact on Googol and then click on that address in the contacts applet on the iPhone, googolmaps pops up trying to find that address in the US for some reason. Yet when you try the same from within GMail, GMaps finds the right location without an issue.

damn i looked at this earlier, and the pages were not up. Its abit late now, a job for tomorrow. I already moved everything back to google from my mobile me trial, so should be a doddle.

Works as described for me, very happy with it.

Now syncing Google calendars (personal, work and a couple of others) down to iCal and my iPhone. 'Push' takes a couple of seconds.

Contacts from Address Book sync up to Google and then down to my iPhone also.

I wonder if Google will license ActiveSync for Gmail as well...

Oh shush, I'm sure my £60 a year MobileMe is better ! It is, really ! Trust me !

Meh :(

Thought I might start using this but Google contacts seems really poo. My GMail already has a load of contacts that it's auto-added and now it bitches about a contact with that e-mail address already being in the address book.

Just incase I can be bothered to input all of my contacts into GMail, does it sync 'My Contacts' or everything (including the automatically added contacts)?

As I understand it, Gmail creates a contact for every recipient that you e-mail from the web e-mail interface. There is no way to switch this behaviour off.
Sync copies all contacts to your phone, so the above will copy across.

I very rarely (once in about 4 years) use the web interface for Gmail (use IMAP clients and my phone) so I didn't face this problem.

To be honest though, you can decide how important up-to-the-minute syncing of contacts is for you, and switch it off if you can wait until returning to your mac/pc to sync contacts via iTunes.

Doesn't help that Gmails UI is utter pants either. I was like "WTFBBQ?" when I went into there for the first time last night. Hope they redo the UI soon. Luckily for me I don't actually use Gmail as my primary email account.

Gmail now automatically creates a contact entry into a separate "Suggested Contacts" group which are NOT synced under Google Mobile Sync Beta. Only "My Contacts" which you are in 100% control of are synced.

This still is an issue when syncing via iTunes (using the "Use contacts from Google Account" feature).

Thanks. I know you would need wifi but I just wanted to check that there was no software / version issues.
I presume that if you weren't connected to wifi, any changes on ipod or google would be synced or pushed next time you connected?

Not tested it but yes iirc since Push can be activated (via settings applet) in manually, every 15mins, every 30mins etc.

Anyone got this working with Google Apps for Domains?

Not sure if you have or not but you need to activate mobile sync in the google dashboard for the domain.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on as I plan on using it with my iphone soon.
