Well this is out of nowhere :)

A few scant details and screenies here:

It does my heart good to see a battlemech and a hex grid in the same screenshot :)

Before it ever graced a computer screen, Battletech was a turn based hex-grid war game, and it was sodding magnificent. If there's finally a decent computer conversion I'll die a happy man :D

Word! I used to play pencil & paper Battletech alongside AD&D and Shadowrun in my yoof :D

Oh how I miss the MechWarrior and MechCommander games. Nothing beats farting about with big stompy robots.

Not too fussed about the FPS mech games really, but I used to have some ancient turnbased hex grid mech game (probably homegrown) which was essentially battles for money, upgrade, more fights for money.

Man the hours I lost into that horrible looking thing, it was immense. It may have even been on the amiga... So I'm well up for this one :)

I can still remember particularly memorable moves from the boardgame, which I haven't played in about 20 years now. The charge/ram and death from above rules were particularly fun :)

I wonder if they're going to port the ruleset or just doing their own thing. Need more info

Absolutely! I used to play and loved painting the little lead figures which were fantastic. I still have some stuff but got rid of most of it when FASA stopped. Nothing like a good 16 board game during the holidays with four lances each :p

Looks like they've started with the 3025 set so there's plenty of room for advancement... Wouldn't mind getting myself a Rifleman IIC or a fat Daishi

haha ya - I remember having a discussion with my friend about charging and how doing one turn shouldnt decrease your damage by that much ... where the rules stated (if I remember) its how many hexes you run from.

btw for those that are MW fans ... you guys should play MW4 mercenaries - awesome game. Was just about to reinstall it.
oh and load the mektek pack

Funny enough it was a charge I was thinking of - I charged a Jenner across half a map at a mate's atlas and completely mangled it. IIRC the damage to the attacker was based on his tonnage, not the target's, so the Jenner walked away with only moderate damage.

Looking more closely at the screenshots, they seem to follow the terrain types in the original game - rough, light woods, heavy woods, water. With a bit of luck the whole ruleset is being ported.

Holy moly !!!

That looks fantastic. Used to play a hex based battletech system on the Amiga years ago and if this is anywhere near as good then happy days :)

Edit - The game was called Mechforce :)

Awww reminds me of the Battletech strategy/role playing boxed game I had in the 80's, will love this if it's totally based on that which it looks to be.

Wish they would remake Battletech: 'The Crescent Hawks Inception' with updated graphics and combat system.

Wish their was more turn-based games, like the Dungeons & Dragons SSI style games - Pool of Radiance, Curse of Azure Bonds, Hillsfar, Heroes of the Lance etc etc.

Played the above games mainly on the Atari ST / Amiga.
