Probably a battle which is still 50/50 but I didn't think I wanted either until my friend let me play his XBox360 with Bioshock. About 3 minutes of playing and I thought to myself, damn I want to a console. But Bioshock is only on XBox and my computer will not run bioshock to the level the 360 was running it. I always known I wanted a new next-generation console for GTAIV next year. But not sure which console.

PS3 has lots of options to it, wifi for internet and also you can use it without pay a subscription. Graphics are in most instances on par with the 360 and most games on the 360 are on the PS3. Downside I could find was price of the system and more importantly games seemed more expensive.

360 well the xbox live subcription bugged me a lot but the games are cheaper and with it I can play with my friend on his (on or offline) plus exclusive games like Halo3 (which i never played any of) and also Bioshock. But not sure in the long run which is better.

Either way I would want to get one sometime in October, i'd get the 360 elite if i went for the XBox mind. Maybe November depending on how much money i want for my holiday.

Any personal opinions on it would help as I find they're more truthful than reviews on the internet. Well not always but im sure you lot will tell me how it is ;)

The PS3 is too expensive at the moment for the amount of games available. A lot of people talk about the next year being a good time for new PS3 games, sure it may be, so wait until then!

There are about 4 existing threads like this, and they always end in war.

So I'm going to start it all by saying JUST BUY A 360 .

360, it's better right now. If you patience and a lot of time you could wait and see which one becomes the better console for games, etc.

Next year is a little too long off really. Just this live subscription is a bit much on top of the broadband :-S will have to budget myself before i buy. Ok im a little over cautious with my money but it is a lot. :)

GTA: IV has exclusive content on the Xbox360 that will not be on the PS3. This cost Microsoft $50,000,000 so it's substantial stuff.

Wrong, most games on the Xbox360 aren't on the PS3 including a lot of its top games such as Dead Rising, Test Drive Unlimited, Project Gotham Racing, Halo, Bioshock etc..

PSN (PS3's online service) may be free, but it's inferior to Microsofts Xbox Live. Because all Xbox360 premiums and elites are bundled with headsets most people online talk. I have heard a total of 3 people talk on PSN. On top of that there are many other advantages to Live.

I use both the PS3 and Xbox360 almost daily, however I would certainly say the strongest line up (and IMO future lineups) are on Xbox360.

Get a 360, there are lots of great games, Xbox live is great, The Joypad is comfy and has rumble, It comes with a headset making voice comms nice and easy to use (For social gaming the 360 really does win hands down).

I suppose in the interest of fairness I should say something nice about my PS3, bless it's dusty little heart. Well it does play Blu-ray movies, erm, there might be some good games coming out in the future (j/k :p I like my PS3 really, I just think the 360 is the better machine all round imho).

Getting bored of these threads now tbh, are people not capable of making their own minds up?

If not there's plenty of info on the subject on OcUK, let alone the internet.

Go with Virgin Media and get Live free for 12 months ;)

the ps3 is nothing short of fantasic, the graphics, the 1080p, the blu ray games are brilliant, it has wireless built in and online is free. Considering the hardware its well worth the price.

But in light of all of this, get a 360, as the ps3 has rubbish games compared to and will do for 6months minimum. Hope this helps

EDIT: the post above mine says exactly what mine does lol

I own both of them, 360 gets way more use (PS3 next to none) simply because of the games :/

The games I was going to buy a few weeks after I bought the PS3 turned out to be crap so now I only own one single game, which I've played to death on my original Xbox. Tempted to sell it if I'm honest while I can still get something for it.

Xbox for about £270 (unless you really really want the elite) no doubt with some semi-reasonable bundle. Sign up for the months free Live, get Halo 3. Job's a good 'un.

Blu-Ray games are brilliant? As opposed to regular games?
As for 1080p.. it really doesn't make much difference graphically and in most cases only reduces the framerate or number of things on screen at any one time.

However, online play for free is excellent and hosted servers are outstanding. With Home hopefully rectifying the flaws in the online service (or at least some of them) it's worth a shout.

However on the flip side, the PS3 controller is crap compared the the Xbox360 one in every way bar the d-pad.

Seconded. I to have both machines and i would say get a 360. The future gaming line up is very strong and so are the games that are already out there. Also you can get many games way cheaper on 360, as many have been out a fair while.
