PS3 or 360

Was one of them a really annoying brummie on Warhawk who wouldn't stop swearing and complaining that no one knows how to play?
Anyways, I would suggest PS3 but I do feel that if you got a 360 you would feel it was more worth your while because of the large library of game.
And.. MS spent $50 million on GTA exclusive content?!!

Well thanks for all the replies, not so much for the "OMG stupid thread" all I wanted is your views on the matter as it was down to pretty much the price for me. But if XBox360 seems to best overall then I think I will go for one.
Really its the overall cost as games are cheaper, most addons seem cheaper and from what I read if HD-DVD doesn't work out Microsoft said they would consider releasing a Blue-Ray add on so its a good position to be in for that fact.

Most people on these forums have a 360 and I think that speaks volumes. Many of the PS3 owners also own a 360 and the vast majority (Nokkon et al) advocate getting a 360 first and foremost as it has (at this juncture) the best games and the best christmas line up. The only people as far as I can see who recommend getting a PS3 before a 360 are those with only a PS3.
A 360 is cheaper, the games are about the same if you buy online, but to have a 360 with all the extras you talk about ie HD Drive WIFI etc theres not much in it. I would say the PS3 add ons are cheaper though, as all 360 ones seem well over priced, £120 for 120Gb drive! Take RockBand band for example the PS3 and 360 price is both $169 but only the PS3 one comes with a wireless guitar, the 360 is $20 more for a wireless guitar.
I thought in your first post you had already made up your mind on a 360 TBH though, and its a great console, but after mass effect when are the big releases due on the 360? Alan Wake ive heard lots about but ive heard that could be a year off, Fable 2 seems a long way off also. If your waiting till October (not long to go i guess) but according to reports in the French gaming press Sony have a "big announcement" on the 12th October , this is could be the announcement of the 40GB PS3 with Spiderman 3 on BD priced at 399 Euros (£285), but as it stands its just rumors at present. Which ever one you get make sure its your decision though and not others, im sure you wont be disappointed with either.

Whilst that does infact sound a little harsh, I have seen several threads of people buying PS3's instead of Xbox360's and regretting it. The only reason I've seen people go from Xbox360 to PS3 is because they're 'afraid of it breaking'
and even then, I'd say half of those have gone back to Xbox360 anyway.If you want a console I don't think it will really matter which you get, both have some good games (Xbox360 has stronger, but PS3 is by no means poor).
I would recommend the Xbox360 still due to the catalogue, better ports but most importantly, the controller is amazing.

Thanks for the additional replies I will shop around for prices. Probably will be the 360 but seeing as I am not going to get it for a few weeks then I would see what this big annoucement is. But I agree (as I have one for the pc) that the 360 controller is nice. Better on the hands for long periods of time.

Does anyone not think that maybe it's possible that the PS3 may never pick up the pace to be on par with the 360? As in, the majority opinion actually going 'get a PS3, definitely'. I can't see anything that will change the 360 being the console of choice. Globally, it's been a year now, and we're still seeing excessive pricing, barren software library and lagging console sales.
Aye yeah, 360 is the PS2 of this generation. I can't see Sony pulling it back.

plus, pretty much all cross platform games run and look a lot better on the 360.

plus it'll never match the price of a core system, and what with the new HDMI core with wireless controller and 256meg mem card, its a excellent start point
Yeah wanted to know about that, I only have a DVI connection on my t.v would HDMI to DVI work ok? I work at a computer store and they have HDMI to DVI leads but not sure if it works for the 360. Don't see why it shouldn't but interested. Will the quality be much sharper than composite which I see on the Samung T.V's certain computer stores have to display the XBOX360.
Yes it will work i have a hd tv which only has vga and dvi and i use a dvi to hdmi adapter and its fine.
Also i have tried vga and hdmi is much better.
The ps3 is the rolls royce of consoles build wise but the 360 is turning out to be the peoples console like the ps2.
