Omg. Starting to worry a bit...about 90% chance i'm going to University and i really need to start preparing...so, what do i need to buy/take with me?

Cutlery
Shower/washing things perhaps?
Stationary of some kind obviously...

I'd like guidance. :)

Although won't the University give me some idea closer the time?

///:Quick edit....Money? I have around £1800 saved up...BUT i want to splash out on a computer...better to wait and live off my savings/student loan? Planning to transfer Tesco stores so i'll earn around £80-120 (Plus overtime) a week hopefully though...

Dont bother with any plates and stuff like that.. everyone will bring them..

provided your moving into halls... We had loads.. and i chucked loads out clearing it on the last day.

Take a nice movie/music collection.. i was appreciated when i put on my 80s hits on itunes...

A console is always good to share.. i used me gamecube... But i wouldnt buy anything especially..

one tip...

get a camera and take as many pictures as you can... i love looking back on my photos of my first year now.. ive got loads and loads of photos.

The uni wouldnt tell you stuff i dont think about what you will and wont need for accommodation.

My first day involved meeting my 6new flatmates.... then pub.

First day you will probably get drunk.. its much easier and fun to get to know people with a few pints.

Plus you kind of get dragged out by the uni representative people..well we did, the 2nd years taking us n00bs on pub crawls

Good god, I ...*reminisces 2001*
hehehe...

there are a few things you will need as mentioned above - but tbh it's all about finding out what you need as you go along :)

doorstop.
Even if nothing else, an open door and a good dvd is a great way to get to know your new flat-mates.

I'd also suggest your own cutlery so you don't have to borrow plates and the like but you'l only need one or two of each (plates, bowls, forks etc).

i got accepted to where i wanted to go on tuesday :D

i didnt even think i was going to manage my insurance choice but somehow i must have got decent grades in the end

think ill probably take as less as i can get away with then just buy stuff as i go along tbh , im dead unorganised like that :D

My brother goes to uni in september, gonna misshimlike crazy :(

Still 2 years away for me... got college to deal with first.. woop.

I have a house atm and will be moving out when I go to Uni next month, so anything that doesn't go with me will either have to be stored at relatives' houses or sold/thrown out  so I've got way more stuff than I could possibly need at Uni. There's lots of stuff like the fridge, sofas, beds etc. that obviously can't go with me. That's gonna be a proper ballache.

From the experience of my older brother, I would advise that you DON'T buy a high-spec PC before going to Uni. Waste of money and probably won't get used much.

I remember going into college with my brothers (I skived a day off school in Y8 :D) and absolutely loving it, their tutors weren't in so we wreaked havoc all day. Ever since that day I wanted to go to college... Now it's up and coming I'm absolutely dreading it :(

I've just applied for my student loan. I only did the maintanence one which is something like £1,300/term. That seems OK given I won't have to pay for accomodation, food (it's catered accomodation) or tuition fees. So essentially I can use that to buy books and socialize. Basically I have a deal with my parents where they pay the fees and accomodation but I will have to pay them most of it back as soon as I get a job.

I can't wait for university. It'll beat the hell out of school, which quite frankly until the last year was crap.

Those 2 years fly by. For me the first 3 years of school after 13 were long and tedious but the last 2 flew by. The last year especially.

Porcupine Tree rule...

I hated school with a passion, I met people there but I only really see one of them regularly :P most of my friends are 1-6 years older than me. Loads of people say to me "I miss school already" etc... I'm still loving the lie-ins and late nights as you can see :D

I wasn't the greatest fan of school either. I went to a public school and found the social interaction extremely narrow, with the majority of people (or clones) being pretentious and spoilt. I met a few good mates there but I really disliked the elitist attitude of the school and everybody in it. To sum it up, I was once "told off" by a few mates for talking to the builders as if they were some sort of sub-breed. I really hope some of the people there fail in life.

I'm looking forward to a bit more diversity at uni. At least it'll be nice when not every single damn person is wearing a ralph lauren polo shirt and hilfiger chinos/jeans.

I'll never send my kids to a public school.

/Rant

Oh and I'm a huge fan of Porcupine Tree. I've got nearly all their albums, also like No-Man too.

Mmmm, mostly chavs at my school. I was called a 'goff' for most of school, up until about y10 when people realised I didn't really give a crap what they thought. I'll still never understand how a goth can have blonde hair :(

Off topic: I hope you've listened to blackfield as well :p
