Now that some of us have managed to unlock and play the game what kinds of FPS are you all getting?

I'm using 11.10 Preview 3 drivers with CAP 3 and getting around 55fps on High (SBAO Off, No AF, 2X AA). Resolution: 1080P. This is on Caspian Border 64 man server.

The Beta actually ran better (at 70fps) so I'm thinking the retail version has some extra bells and whistles on High that the Beta didn't.

Post your results guys! Would be ideal if you used Caspian Border as the benchmark map so we can compare the retail to the Beta version.

I am also using the 11.10 Preview drivers. And I have to say the retail version is running better than the beta !!!

All on high (sbao off, shadows low, 2 aa, textures Ultra) getting 55 - 65 FPS @ 1080p.

In the beta with the same settings I would get 45 - 65 FPS. It looks a lot more detailed and seems more consistant with the FPS.

I have a MSI 6950 2gb, i7 920, 6 gig ram.

Really impressed with BF3 so far :)

I bought the game on origin and just used a VPN to unlock it. :) If it looks this great on my 6950 I am wondering what ultra would look like.

With 11.10 Preview 3 and 11.9 CAP 3 I was getting 90-110 fps on ultra but it didn't feel smooth at all, would pause for a split second every few seconds which made it unenjoyable to play and difficult to hit anyone.

Uninstalled, went back to 11.9 (no CAPs) and I get 80-100 fps but it is as smooth as butter.

Update: Cap 4's seemed to have solved the stuttering when I tried them the other day :)

6990 @ 880/1250 (stock bios '1').

Yeah! I got that split second stuttering too, I thought it was because Im using crossfire but now Im thinking its the Beta drivers. Will roll back to 11.9 tonight and see how it works.

Definitely worth a try, the stuttering is very frustrating isn't it! :D
I'll try installing 11.9 CAP 3 again to see if that recovers some of the performance loss, but it seems to be working very well with those uninstalled at the moment.

On another note for those that were saying 2Gb VRAM was more than enough for BF3 at 1920x1200, according to MSI afterburner my VRAM usage peaked at ~3200mb while playing, any never went below ~2400mb except in the round end screens

Does any one have any performance feedback for nvidia cards as yet? Specifically GTX 560Ti and/or GTX 570 as my purchase needs to be made soon.

Thanks,

AdamN.

3200MB? bloody hell that can't right surely?

Getting about 40-80fps on my 2500k and 6950 with all on Ultra (AA off, AP on Medium and no HBAO/SSAO or Motion Blur) at 1920x1080.

Does that seem about right? Using the 11.10V3 drivers.

Lowest I seem was 44fps on the second mission, but it mainly stays around 60fps.

Nope can't be right, smells a bug in afterburner and ATI cards... How can it use more than is available ? Unless it has started using system memory as extra VRAM.

Anyway this blaa blaa about VRAM is pointless because graphics card drivers are mean't to do their job right and never allow the VRAM to fill up to a point where there is not enough VRAM available. Also if you start getting some VRAM errors or Memory issues it could be a memory leak in the game or the drivers. You only need huge VRAM for huge resolutions.. or you want to use insane amounts of AA on huge resolutions (which to me is silly to use huge amounts of AA on a screen with a 2500 x 1600 resolution).

Once I get BF3 i'm going to do some testing myself and see what it really is using and if it shows signs of memory leaks.

I'm pointing the finger at the drivers.

Could the crazy Vram figures quoted by people with Xfire or 6990's be the combined Vram use of each card? eg. in the case of L33's 6990 3.2Gb usage is in fact 1.2Gb per card?

Thats because the 6990 has 4gb memory (2gb per gpu), both sets of 2gb need the same data stored. Simply divide the number by 2 to get the relative usage.
