At long last! A sound card to compete with the MIGHTY D2X??

This sound blaster Z looks like it might make a noticeable difference.

I can't tell the difference between an old X-Fi Music (115dB), Xonar DS (107dB) or Xonar Essence (124dB) in stereo mode.
In gaming mode, CMSS-3D is miles better than Asus cards using dolby or other software based positional audio.

Hardly a fair comparison :p

WEll, maybe not :D But, they aren't as far apart pricewise as you think. Remember the Z cards come with the soundblaster beamforming microphone which costs £30 if you buy it seperately.

I wish they released a version of the Z that didn't include the microphone. Could be called the Z lite or something and charge £59.99 for it. That card would sell like hotcakes :)

No junk at all!! Takes up 80MB on the hard disk. Here are the things it installed :-

Creative software autoupdate
Creative speaker setup
Creative Alchemy
Creative Diagnostics
Creative sound blaster z control panel

It also provides a link to get more software, so if you want some of the other stuff like wavestudio you can download it.

Looks good, I like to keep the clutter to a minimum on my PC's. So all in all it sounds like you are happy with this card? Are you running it on Win7 or 8?

I am running it on windows 7.

And yeah I am really happy with it. I bought it blind so to speak, no reviews, nobody else had one and was very nervous, especially with all the creative hate out there. Thankfully the card came, installed perfectly and sounds excellent.

I just wish someone would review the card already :-)

Sounds good to me, I prefer to go by the people using the cards rather than reviews anyway. And my previous cards have always been Creative.

Been having some problems with BF3 causing my PC to reset and seems to be related to the on-board Realtek sound card, this looks like it will be my replacement. Also matches the colour scheme of my PC.

Thanks for the replies.

Hey guys

Removed all the drivers for my old Titanium HD, whipped the card out.

Installed the Soundblaster Z in my machine, put the new drivers on, nice quick install.

Started playing around with the settings on the new card, much slicker than the old Creative set.

I am running the card optical only using Dolby Digital out.

This card sounds much better than the old one.

Plugged in my Sennheiser PC360 headphones and was really blown away, they sound like a new set of headphones now, the onboard headphone amp really makes a big difference.

Played a bit of World of warcraft which sounds even better now, footsteps sound deeper etc, then loaded up Black Ops 2 the surround sound really is amazing.

Will try out Scout Mode tonight & see what difference that makes.

Cheers all

You know the Titanium HD had a headphone amp too right? :p

Pretty sure it does not have a built in amp, mine was one of original models when it first came out.

Maybe it was added in at a later date, but the headphones sound miles better with the new card.

Cheers
