*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Well, we've had the discussion the last time 'round when talking about the s800 korean releases. The truth is, technology is always improving and me personally, I wouldnt want manufacturers to hold back on releasing it just so *I* could feel like i had some top of the pile bit of kit for another 6 months longer. No, competition is good for the consumer; competition encourages value for money and more technological advances.

on the charging under the pillow thing, didnt somebody else here have the same problem a few weeks ago?

Samsung should have a handle on the temperature limits but that doesnt mean people should try to charge these things under a pillow. Mine gets pretty roasty toasty without stuffing it under a pillow lol.

What annoys me is the fact that Samsung have diluted the Galaxy brand with releases out of ying yang with the S4, S4 activ, S4 mini, S4 Galaxy camera and now a pointless and quite useless "update" to the S4 which IMO isn't needed. More power doesn't necessarily equate it to being the best phone. The S4 already overheats as it is and if the Snapdragon 800 processor has improved heat management then that's one thing but if it hasn't and it still produces the same if not more heat then is it really worth it?

How many S4 releases will Samsung bring out, all it's doing is confusing customers and taking the route that HTC did a few years ago and HTC manage to annoy a lot of its loyal fan base. Samsung are in danger of repeating the same mistakes that HTC did, however it has a few things in its favour, lots of cash and plenty of clout in the mobile market so it can pretty much do what it wants - even if it means annoying its loyal fan base.

LTE-A. That's why the s800 s4's are being released. It is not (primarily) because the s800 is faster. It's because none of the current S4's support LTE-A.

Yeah but the UK doesn't have LTE-A yet, it has a fledgling 4G infrastructure as it is, so what's the point of releasing a European version of it. I can't see too many people taking advantage of LTE-A well certainly not here but maybe in other parts of Europe. Samsung are just confusing its customers, its akin to the megapixel race, I can see people saying oh my S4 is now old and it isn't top of the mobile phone heap and they'll be wanting the new S4.

I understand what you're saying about the LTE-A version and TBH I wasn't bothered about it when it was first mentioned a few pages back but what annoys me is that Samsung have decided to bring the LTE-A version to European markets inc UK and it doesn't make sense, they're confusing customers who aren't tech savvy. The likes of you and I know what's going on in the mobile industry but it's the not so well versed who will get carried away in the hype, much like the most lauded octa-core debate.

Samsung should just stick to one release cycle and one phone, at least Apple have got their strategy right, with one major release every refresh cycle.

All I can say, is that Samsung better be careful (especially when they bring the note III out) as having this strategy most certainly didn't help HTC......

Plus iirc, Samsung's shares have been cut by a fair bit, iirc they have missed out on a potential $12 billion and supposedly one of the reasons is because of the amount of handsets they have brought out since the main gs 4 (obviously other factors are involved too though)

Agreed! This is why i think we will see a very limited release here, if anything. Samsung releasing a european version of the s800 is one thing, but without the infrastructure networks wont pick them up and without that....meh.

Agreed. Samsung are doing themselves no favours by diluting the galaxy brand even further. It's bad enough as it is.

oooh, I don't know about that lol.

+1 Exactly, that's what I'm trying to put across. Samsung have to be careful, we've seen HTC make the same mistake and yet to recover from it financially, case in point with Samsung's shares been cut and their estimations of S4 sales being scaled back by a few million.

as i have mentioned before i really want the Galaxy S4 Google Edition, but looking at a fair whack on ebay for import and possible sting with customs.

i see you can root and rom the stock one, but will that get the automatic updates from google?

Hmm that may well be possible - do we know if it can be flashed via odin as I believe the GE ROM has a Samsung style build number.

oooh, I don't know about that lol.

I hope so, a limited release would definitely help decrease the confusion that would surely come if another S4 is unleashed on the UK public. The infrastructure certainly isn't in place and you're right the networks won't pick it up as they have nothing to gain.

Dude, seriously the release cycle needs to slow down if only for the sake of our bank balances lol :p Then again I always find a way to pick up a new phone one way or another, so on second thoughts stuff the release cycle lol :D

i love stock android, but dont rate my Nexus4 that highly, i want changeable batteries, longer lasting batteries and a SD slot,

hoping at the google press thing next week they may add the google edition phones to Europe, a long shot but fingers crossed

Took your sweet time ;):p

Not worth updating if your happy with your current ROM IMO.

Well i knew this would happen, flashed MF8 the other day, and today i couldn't help myself, I flashed MGA! :o

Still the stock version as i need the Barclays app to work.....

i know that damn barclays app!!

its worse for me, as i work for them and need an extra app as well as my personal ones to work as a must

Well, My phones started to play up big time this morning, and I'm not sure what causing it....

I think it could be something to do with the SD card, a Sandisk 64gb from Amazon, But I'm not sure. The Bit of the phone where the SD slot is get quite warm when the card is installed.

One minute its got full battery, then it turns itself off, I restart it and its got 0%.

Heres a few screenshots of the battery, anyone got any ideas?

I wonder if the SD card and/or the battery are fudged? Or is it just the phone itself!?

I did flash the latest stock FW (MGA) from XDA Last week, but its been fine, this started late yesterday evening, and got worse today.
