Just intrigued as to what your gpu uses at stock and overclocked. This could help with choosing the right PSU or just for infomation purposes.

Obviously using software is not very accurate but will do for most, if you have a Watt meter please post your results from that too.

Download HWinfo from here http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php

And if you have it please run 3Dmark Firestrike Extreme for comparison.

So 1 run at stock and 1 at or near your max OC

mine as an example

If using a wattmeter, how would you find out what the card uses at stock unless you take it off? I really don't trust a software as such.

i don't trust software either but its all i and most have.

so one of your KPE's uses 795w or is that system??

any chance when you have time do a run at same clocks as me 1385/1977@ 1.4v on FSX and measure the real usage???

System usage. But that was on Heaven 4.0, on FSE it has gone up to 850W pulled from the wall.

On idle, it was about 150-200W but that's likely because my CPU was overvolted higher than necessary.

For anyone wondering, these numbers are from a pretty overvolted i7 4770k and a 780 TI Classified Kingpin edition card- not a typical Nvidia card's power usage by any means.

heres mine running heaven on extreme @ 1370/1977 (just stuck it at 1.41v for quickness)

with a 4930k @ 1.4v
with my calcs i'm getting 876w and thats card only but i am using the max amps x 12v and 580w for the average figure

I would expect your 4930K to be a lot hungrier than my 4770k and my KPE was at slightly lower volts too.

I am guessing that number you got (876W) is system usage and not wall pull, correct? My number above (850w) doesn't account for PSU efficiency. So assuming 92% efficiency for my PSU at 50% load, my config would have consumed about 780W.

Not system, card only 876w peak, 580w average (amps x 12v)

Obviously software is not a true indicator as we know

Ah see what you mean, sure someone could explain, i'm just multiplying amps x 12v to get the wattage which i believe is what you do??

Sure, but I am now trying to wrap my head around why Matt thinks 876W is too low a number for the GPU by itself. I really don't know how to calculate power draw from HWInfo but V x A seems right to me- just not sure which V and A values to take.

I used Corsair Link once to see what it said and the number from the watt meter and Corsair Link were in agreement as well if that helps.

I normally look at the two vrm numbers and add them together. One is the vrm and the other is the vram chips. :D

The vrm numbers are in and out and i think this is what 8pack was on about,

Card pulls in big amps when benching hard but spits even more back into the PSU when its not needed and this is what can trigger ocp, i think?? Not an electrical whizz!! :D

All i know is i had a seasonic 1000w plat. And ocp on the unit would be triggered on catzilla raymarch test and FSX combined, never happened with SF1200w plat.

Hwinfo doesn't pick up my wattages correctly, just registers my first card at 0.609w and the second at 0.770w with both hitting ~60% of the TDP (tomb raider bench)
