All,

I'm sure some of you will have seen this thread in General Discussion today

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17718326

more specifically, please take a look at this post in the thread

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9147094&postcount=27

What I would like to know (and I know for some people this might not be feasible due to the sheer number of machines you would have to reprogram) but would any one here be willing to fire their machine(s) into action to aid in this?

OCUK has been bloody fantastic when things like this happen in the past, pulling together as a large community, fingers crossed there will be a few of you who would be willing to assist.

I'll get the ball rolling and sign my machine up to do this now !

I would if I had dual core but the reason i'm currently folding is a personal one so I won't be turning it off for any extended periods. I might give it a bash for a month though, every little helps I suppose.

Client installed and running. How do I join this team exactly?

(10:11:47 PM) Harry: come on then how do I join your elite DC team?
(10:11:58 PM) Phil: lol
(10:12:07 PM) Phil: you have signed up to the project yeah?
(10:12:17 PM) Harry: I've got the client installing now
(10:12:57 PM) Phil: ok well if you go to the homepage click on teams then login i think you can do it from there

You have to create an account against your node ID then associate the new account with the team.

Whilst my every sympathy is with Skywalker and his family, I feel that through my participation in Folding I'm working towards the downfall of the diseases most threatening to mankind. If only I had enough CPUs to go round all the projects...

Hmm, well I'm crunching away but when I try to create an account on the website, using the email I used to register the client, it gives an error saying the email doesn't match.

wth double post?

I need someone to send me the installation folder compressed for this client. The installer isn't Vista friendly and this seems to be the only way around it.

fully aware there are other very worthy causes out there, but wouldn't be doing my thing as an OCUK member if I didn't at least post this thread :)

I am with Mattus. My heart goes out to you and I know any medical DC projects are important, but I too have personal reasons for staying with Folding@Home.

I hope things work out for you and your daughter :)

Well I'm borging my mums PC tomorrow with any luck. My grandparents PC will follow once I put it together. This beastie will follow suit as soon as I get the client working in Vista.

Existing folders, if you have projects ongoing and can't spair the cycles don't worry about it, but maybe it would be better to post condolences in the other thread.

Here is a rar of a fresh install of the client on my XP box, according to a post on the D2OL forums this should enable you to get the client working if you are running Vista http://homepage.ntlworld.com/k_blyth/SengentD2OL.rar

Once you have the client installed you will be asked to enter your email, one you have done this go here and follow the instructions

http://app.d2ol.com/memberServices/createMember.jsp

then login here and you should be able to join the OcUK team

http://app.d2ol.com/memberServices/memberLogin.jsp

Hope that helps.
