OK, lets get this on the road.
I will be the judge, jury and executioner and my decision is final.
Why me?
Because I'm now in my 36th year of playing in bands and auditioning 1000's of musicians both in my bands and other peoples bands.
I will be listening for a talent that I think is good enough to play alongside me in a band of my choosing (in other words if you are a brilliant classical guitarist then my band is classical and so on).
(At this point some will say that the guitarist in my band at the moment isn't that good but believe me, we've tried Vai/Satriani/Wylde soundalikes and none of them fitted and he does a great job at the music we play).

I expect two things -
1 - a recording of you sitting down, picking up the guitar and pratting about for around a minute.
2 - a recording of you with a band/home studio that you are so impressed by that it will impress me.

I accept that some of you may not have number 2 so I will accept number 1 if its exceptional.

I will host all the tracks on my site so you can send the MP3's to my email address below. Start auditioning.

Disgusting.
Dozens of guitar warriors and only one entry.
Perhaps they ought to keep shut in the future.

Rofl..Maybe some people just don't have the capacity to record?

Anyway.

If you click on my sig you can hear me playing guitar with my band, there's 8 short demo clips. I'll record some noodling later on.

Can't get anything. Tried in both Firefox and IE.
I've entered the site and tried to download from the list but nothing there

Great idea this. I have sent my entry in to dmpoole just to keep things moving but I decided to play some acoustic guitar with a little classical thrown in rather than a squeeling electric rock solo, I thought it would be good to add some variation in styles here. It probably wont be 'flashy' enough for most peoples tastes but that doesn't bother me.

Just got to wait for him to put it up now. :)

Turd, there's the media player on the homepage which streams them automatically but it appears we've reached out bandwidth limit :(

EDIT:

Forgot we had a myspace page, go here: http://myspace.com/thefreefallband to have a listen to 4 ultra low bitrate demos XD

I'll record noodling tonight after i've finished work.

Hehe, nice :) Can't beat a nice bit of Broonzy (I play that but slower tempo).

I need to get into this home recording lark, but I don't know where to start.. and that's something for another thread!

Lol yeah you can blame Clapton for making me speed up the tempo of that one. :p

Gordy very very good mate, was very impressed at your recording :)

Hopefully i can get that good one day ! :)

Cheers dude, glad you liked it. :)

The quality you can get from a home setup is incredible nowadays if you know what you are doing. Though to be honest that little piece I just recorded doesn't show off the recording quality at all. I just plonked a mic a couple feet in front of me and played. When I am doing a proper recording I go through a good hour or so of mic placement setup and isolate the mic with blankets etc. to stop reflections and of course I turn off most of the fans in my PC, if you listen you can hear them quite clearly in that little "pratting about" recording.

Anyway if you keep working hard mate you can be as good as you want to be. I was lucky and had a fantastic tutor from the age of seven. He was the kind of guy that knew his own limitations, knew he wasn't that great a guitarist himself but he was an incredible teacher. He pushed me on to get my ABRSM Grade 8 classical guitar (with distinction) by the age of twelve. I owe him an awful lot. Shame you don't live in Essex or I would recommend him to you. :)

I don't play classical anymore really but i'm glad I went through the motions and put the effort in to learn it. If you can play classical guitar to a good standard then you will have covered just about every aspect of the instrument and nothing should be out of your reach. I thoroughly recommend learning classical guitar to anyone serious about the instrument, whatever style they really want to play.

How about sticking up an example of your work dmpoole, always interested in what you would sound like :)

You can hear my voice if you click on the link on my sig, go to the media page and download some videos.

I've now put my entry on the web page of recordings I did in my studio a while back but I don't confess to being a musician but somebody who prats around a bit.
