Lost!
During my re-install i thought i had disabled in the bios my photo storage drive (200GB of work and photos for work).

During the install i deleted the partition, mistaking it for my primary drive - i've not overwriten the data or touched the drive since...is there any hope for getting it back?

Unless you somehow get your hands on some VERY special software (Which is near impossible unleass you're a huge business) then negative. That sucks, I hate losing data.

If all you have done is deleted the partition and not setup a new one or formatted it then yes, it's very possible to get the data back.

Google for GetDataBack to start with.

Something like Easy Recovery Pro might do the job. Have you checked that its actually deleted the partition?

I believe there are companies who charge top dollar for hard drive recoverys. They'd be just to happy to help.

I near did the same and lost all my music, about 52gig.

I'll have a peek with some of those programs, if nessecary i have used a company for data recovery before with a client of mine :)

Rednut05 - My photos are related in a BIG way to my work....the form part of my income and hence are vitally important...god i'm a mupped!!

//Note to self - ALWAYS pay attention at vital stages of re-installations! :p

Give Testdisk a try - link - saved my bacon a few nights ago when i accidentally deteted the partition of a friend's external usb2 backup hard disk while reinstalling windows - forgot to unplug it before starting reinstall & of course it appeared as a valid disk onto which I could install d'oh :o

Fortunately I (same as you) had not saved anything onto the drive afterwards & this utility was able to recover the partition & the data - the directory structure was not as it was but all the data was there - that's the vital thing to remember, a deleted partition table is not necessarily deleted/lost data.

HTH mate :)

It comes up with a website that just shows a load of other manufacturers programs, is this the right site???

Hmm....the drive isnt showing in windows. I can see it in the disk management console but if it partition it again itll screw it up right???

Oh ****, i can see this ending badly if i click the wrong thing!
