Oh god...help - Partition recovery. Advice on creating thread titles also welcome.

Goto control panel, administrative tools, computer management, then goto storage, and disk management. Then your drives will be listed, and if the drive your photos and stuff has a partition on it, it will say next to it.

As i said above it shows on the disk management console (as you refer to) but it didnt say anythign about a partition. the data is too valuable to risk doing anything without recovering the data and as i deleted the partiton on windows install i cant see why it would be there :)

This is why you rename your drives/partitions with sensible names. :) That way when it comes to the installation stage, you can instantly see what's going and what's staying..
C: WINDOWS
D: MUSIC
E: BACKUPS
etc, etc.

'Local disk' for the lose.

Actually it was called D:\Photos - but that doesnt show in windows xp install!

P.S - Thanks to the passing medalamaniac who changed the title that really didnt need changing ;)

Next time disconnect the power cable to all drives except the primary drive, you cant mess up then.
