Just seen this aswell, sort of does'nt tell you anything :)

Setanta were widely tipped to get some coverage, although some so called experts tipped sky to get 5 of the 6 packages available lol

edit the remaining 3 packages are going to a second round of bidding Link

Surely that means Sky could still purchase a further 2 packages in the second round of bidding

Yeah the story has been updated a bit since I posted. At first it only mentioned that Sky had 3 packages and didn't mention the others at all.

Oh Dear, So there is the Sky Sports package £36 a Month plus SKY+ £10 Then PremPlus £50 a year then Setanta £15 a month.

So thats £782 a year just to watch the Premiership.

Sky have 92 games, all on sky sports. The have basically lost the 50 prem plus pay per view games to Setanta, although Setanta have only 46 (the other 4 being added to Sky's package). I think Setanta are offering them as ppv and yearly subscription so as long as they charge similay to prem plus we end up with the same number of games as now for roughly the same price.

Edit: I don't think you don't pay £10 for Sky+ if you have premium channels ie sports.

For many years I've had a one metre dish pointed at satellites and on 13E are channels by the Arabic ART Sports. There are four sports channels and on a saturday afternoon all four channels will show four different premier matches with english commentary. They also show saturday dinner, saturday teatime, sunday 2pm, sunday 4pm, monday 8pm etc and all legal with an official ART Sports card.

Tomorrow it shows these live :
Arsenal v Wigan
Aston Villa v Sunderland
Manchester Utd v Charlton
Newcastle v Chelsea
West Ham v Tottenham

Setanta commentary is even more dire than SKY Sports. :o They hve some of the Italian coverage too as well as the French and SPL...

They have a Setanta PPV channel already which shows the same stuff that is on SKY Sports PPV channel

You can get a season ticket for a premier league team for half that.
If people keep paying then sky will keep increasing the price.
