Ok, so I got the call last week to say I will be having my interview for the RAF in the middle of June \:D/ I've applied to be an officer and I've been researching what I was told to research over the phone. I.e. History etc. However, I was wondering if anybody has any tips that might be useful for the interview :)

Also, can anybody confirm the number of pressups needed in 1 minute. I've found out that its between 35-40 situps and i've also been told its like 13 pressups but this seems way to low  Anybody able to clear this up for me please because obviously the chap on the phone wasn't going to tell me :p

Cheers in advance :)

Somebody say RAF?

Press ups in a minute is 13 (lol) but you're expected to get around 30. Situps is 35, but once again you're expected to get 40+ to be competitive.

hey,

In the forces just be yourself, i was worried about my interview only to find the guys treating me like a friend and also calling me names etc.

It's a laugh :), Tony will be here soon ;)

EDIT: Hmmm he's already here hahaha

I have no interest in the Airforce.

However, i am only averagely fit, and i can do 90 sit ups in a minute.
As for push ups well over 60.

I call bs, 1.5 situps a second? For the RAF you have your feet held, have to have your fingers on your temples, elbows out in front. One rep is shoulders on the floor, up to elbows on top of knees, and back down to the ground again.

Call it what you like, give me a week to get back up to speed and ill post a video .
I am well aware of what a full sit up is, i was timed in training at a martial arts lesson.
It hurt after i did it and i couldnt of gone on for more than a minute, i'm no superman.
Dont apply the fact that YOU cant do something to mean that i or anybody else cant.

I used to do 250 sit ups and push ups each and every morning and night.

All I was saying is an 'averagely fit' person would never accomplish 90 situps in a minute.

I was and am only averagly fit, i played football a bit, a bit of kung fu and kickboxing.

I bet there are people who dont get off their arse all day on these forums who could get well over 60 in a minute.

Is that even posible? you would have to do one every 2 seconds... it takes me 20 mins to do 50!
